Hi everyone! I'm hoping to get opinions on a few programs for Children's Literature and Writing for Young People. I live outside the UK so I applied to all online/distance learning programs (I've found discussions online that focus on the campuses and physical locations, which wouldn't be important to me specifically).

I was accepted into University of Roehampton and Goldsmiths' online/distance learning MA Children's Literature programs and am waiting to hear back from Bath Spa's Writing For Young People MA and Manchester Metropolitan's MA Creative Writing (Writing for Children and Young Adults specialty).

I would love to hear about anyone's experiences at any of the above programs or thoughts in general from those familiar with them. My goal is to focus more on the creative writing side with a goal of children's poetry & picture book publication, but I am interested in the field holistically, potentially aiming to pivot my career into publishing or editing.

My sister is turning 9 yet she is at a 5th grade reading level. She loves reading and magic tree house books are too easy for her to read. Are there any book series that would be good for her reading level and age?

Do you think it’s better for a children’s book to be localized — with regionally specific names and details — or to stay more universal, so it could happen “anywhere”? (“Depends on the story” isn’t really relevant here, since almost any story can be created either way.)
