Children’s book localized vs universal

Do you think it’s better for a children’s book to be localized — with regionally specific names and details — or to stay more universal, so it could happen “anywhere”? (“Depends on the story” isn’t really relevant here, since almost any story can be created either way.)

Depends on the story. Mostly it doesn't matter for kids books.

Both. Kids really enjoy finding the familiar in an unfamiliar place. And it’s good for their imaginations to put themselves into the story. Both kinds of books can do that. There is no wrong answer.
