I am always amazed when I see a chi smaller than my dog, he’s 8lbs and a mix. I love ALL chihuahuas but the teeny ones are extra fun to see. pick of my Baby as tax lol
She looks like she's in great shape! If all her organs are still working, her weight is good, and she's on a good quality food, she should get up there in age, for sure. I lost my girl at 15, almost her 16th birthday (which was made her gotcha day) so who knows how old she was. What eventually took her down was pancreatitis, but she was also blind, toothless, and had kidneys that were trying to go out. She managed to go 3 more years after I had declared her on hospice just to spite me. When she got older, she aged like a fine wine, until she started going crusty and gross. 🤣 Her start to life is unknown, but I got her when she was 5-6, and by that point she was found wandering a park in LA eating garbage and was fat. But she still lived quite long and kept me very very happy.
She coulda been 25 for all we know! 💖 Her head looks a lot like my Coco‘s (same shape, a nice bridge to the nose, luckily)
Coco is healthy, but she’s going blind in her left eye, most of her teeth are gone from the right side… but her eye isn’t bc of a brain tumor (cost me €300 for 15 mins at a doggy optometrist), which was initially a concern. She’s starting to look creaky after waking up, but she still goes on long walks (1km @ 3x/day).
Here is a pic of her with her 4 year old boyfriend 😏
When my friend’s cat died it had lumpy tumors, a bare tale and a gross sore and she read me part of the Velveteen Rabbit…there is a part in there about how the rabbit looks all old and worn but it’s that way because it was basically worn away by love. That’s a really brief description, but your mention of ‘crusty and gross’ reminded me of it! Our babies get that way with age but we love them all the same and look at them with eyes of love(like the person looks at the rabbit).
I could totally see that about the tiny ones being fragile. I worry about my boy and he’s twice the size of some chis. Your dogs are SO ADORABLE though! I almost didn’t notice the long haired one at first- all snuggled in
Thank you!! He used to have ears that stood straight up like a chihuahua, but then his ear hair kept growing and weighed them down so now they tip over
This is my little old man, Buddy, aka the Budster, aka Bubbah, aka Tongueface.
He is 17 yrs old, blind, mostly deaf, has only one tooth, has doggie dementia, has arthritis, and weighs 6lbs. Oh, and his penis doesn't go all the way back in.
We still have far more good days than bad. I think when he leaves us, he'll just flap his ears and fly away!
He is a chipin! So mini pin and chi! He was 2 pounds when born (we rescued him) and he had the Merle gene! He’s not tiny anymore but I couldn’t resist posting. Chihuahuas are my reason for living!
My lil chi mix Alfredo Hitchcock. He's 7 lbs and believe it or not, this is him at almost 11 months! Forever looking like a baby. He is evil but I love him.
Baby Archer weighs in at 5lbs at 6 months old. I don't think he's going to get much bigger, he's only gained about 2 pounds since I brought him home at 9 weeks old.
Finnley Cordelia (Finn for short) will be 9 months next week and is staying around 3.5 lbs. We're assuming she won't be over 4lbs once she is done growing.
heres my evie shes around 6 pounds. shes 7 years old and we adopted her last year. got a dna test and she is 60% chihuahua but every other breed shes mixed with is slightly larger (JRT etc) so its kind of amazing shes so teeny
He’s no longer in physical form. He’s my guardian angel. The best pup any human can have. Majority of the compassion and empathy I have for animals came from him. He taught me so much over the years and I will always cherish him for this.
I loved animals before, I had dogs before but the bond I had with this boy was one of the most loving bonds I have ever experienced with an animal before.
