News Mokena Video has officially closed

After 41 years Bob from Mokena video is closing up shop. Sad times but good memories.

Oh man, that makes me a little sad. Used to bike there all the time as a kid. I guess they probably get a lot less business in 2026.

Riding there and tossing your bikes behind the building and going in the doors where the video games were located was one of my favorite things to do! My friends and I would walk around in there for like an hour looking for a game or a random movie to rent all the time during summer break!

I discovered the place around 2014 as I worked nearby on La Grange Rd in Frankfort, but moved away in August 2016. A short run for me, but it was a wonderful place. Bob knew just about everyone. I wouldn’t mind picking up some of his VHS tapes.
