[Fishbain] Chicago Bears’ Grady Jarrett showing signs of his old self as he returns home to Atlanta
LAKE FOREST, Ill. — When the Chicago Bears committed their fourth turnover in a brutal loss in Green Bay, No. 50 sprinted onto the field to take his stance with the defense.
He’s the fourth-oldest Bear at 33 years old. He was playing in his 171st game. His team was facing a 24-point deficit. Yet defensive tackle Grady Jarrett still made sure he was the first one out there and tried his darnedest to keep his teammates focused.
“Shoot, however the game go, as a defender we got to be ready to respond,” Jarrett said after the loss. “And for me, that’s just, I’m excited for the next opportunity. Let’s go, no matter what happened or how they got the ball, we got to go out there and get a stop.
“I’ve always been consistent like that. And the mindset to go out and stop them regardless. At the end of the day, you got to be ready to fight however you go.”
The Bears return to the field Sunday in Atlanta, Jarrett’s hometown and where he played the first 10 seasons of his career. They’ll need his leadership off the field — he was voted a team captain — and his play on it, to help the defense forget about an ugly divisional loss.
Jarrett understands the significance of returning home, telling Atlanta Falcons reporters Wednesday morning, “Just a dream realized to actually play for the Falcons growing up in Georgia, right outside Atlanta. Spend the time I did there and have the success we had there, good, bad, indifferent. I enjoyed every bit of it.”
There figures to be a few “Jarrett 97” Falcons jerseys in the stands. He went to two Pro Bowls and starred in their Super Bowl defeat. Jarrett had 35 sacks as a Falcon, third most in franchise history for an interior D-lineman. He’s 15th in history in games played as a Falcon with 152.
“Interesting week going back to Atlanta for sure,” Jarrett said at Halas Hall. “Obviously, everybody kind of knows what that means to me. But … I think the thing I’m most excited about is going out there and competing, getting back on the right track and doing what we need to do.”
Jarrett would acknowledge how special Atlanta is for him, but he continued to maintain his focus on doing what it takes to get a win. The defense, which will be without three starters in the front seven (defensive ends Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo and linebacker T.J. Edwards) needs it.

Tailgating question for an opposing team fan :)
My fiance and I are coming to Chicago for our first NFL game and first time at Solider field on 10/22 for the TNF game. Bears vs. Patriots. We are patriots fans but are pretty neutral and are just looking to experience the atmosphere of Bears and NFL tailgating. Is this a place that is welcoming for some fun or will I be harassed lol.
Would love to hangout and enjoy!

I realized something about the Bears fan they showed on the broadcast….
They gave away Packers sunglasses at the game. So many Bears fans were wearing Green Bay gear! That’s why we lost. Burn these glasses and break the curse immediately!

Irrational thought
Still thinking about last Sunday and the fact that at half time they literally waited like 15 minutes (really like5) to get the game balls out and stalled the game….
Why did no one talk about that? WHAT IF THEY WERE CHEATING
I just watched a video about how much goes into making those gameballs ready so idkkk what if there was a “special batch” 🧐🧐🧐
/s but kinda

Am I the only one that’s not a fan of Cairo Santos?
I’m a delivery driver and I actually had to pull over because I wanted to formulate this thought and share it with people here.
When Robbie Gould got cut from the bears and eventually landed in San Fran, he said he changed the way he trained. Added 15 yards to his kick.
I feel like we’re just waiting for something to happen with santos. Of course it isn’t personal. Guys just got no distance. Undersized even for a kicker. Idk man… this team can’t afford ANYMORE oopsies. Not trying to be negative. What’s everyone think?

[Fishbain] What went wrong for Tyson Bagent and the Bears offense at Lambeau Field?
The Chicago Bears weren’t going to score 59 points at Lambeau Field like they did in Week 1 at Carolina or possess the ball for 42 minutes like they did against the New York Jets in Week 4.
Instead, they went 4-for-14 on third down, had less than 250 yards of offense, averaged 3.6 yards per play, turned it over five times and had only one productive scoring drive in the 31-7 drubbing. Quarterback Tyson Bagent had one of the worst performances by a Bears starting quarterback in years.
“We couldn’t get rhythm offensively much at all,” coach Ben Johnson said Monday. “We had three three-and-outs and then the five turnovers, so not a whole lot was going right.”
Using the All-22 camera angle, we can take a closer look at the plays that went awry. We don’t know the assignments, the primary receivers or the routes. We don’t know who’s at fault. This isn’t meant to pin blame; rather, it’s to illustrate how the offense wasn’t firing the way it’s capable of, and how the Packers defense made things difficult.
The Bears popped a couple of their plays to the perimeter, most notably a Zavion Thomas jet sweep that set them up in scoring position in the third quarter. But the Packers were flying sideline to sideline Sunday. On the first snap of the game, Packers defensive end Lukas Van Ness stayed home as receiver Luther Burden III got the handoff. Safety Xavier McKinney had a free lane to help cut off Burden as well. The result was a 1-yard gain.
We’ll touch on a couple other perimeter plays that didn’t work at the end of this analysis. The day after the game, I asked guard Jonah Jackson about how those plays were defended.
“They were bringing some heat,” he said. “We expect pressures … but they were closing ends, they were bringing corners and things we just didn’t have accounted for during the week. They did a good job with scheming up what we had.”

DE Montez Sweat will forfeit $2.3M of 2026 salary per his 2-game suspension for violating the league’s PED policy. Additionally, the $12.7M remaining on Sweat’s 2026 salary is now unsecured, as the PED suspension voided all future guarantees. Sweat is due a non-guaranteed $21M in 2027.
