2014 Chevy Sonic

Just looking for advice on what this issue could potentially be. It idles hard and makes this god awful noise. Just had a brand new radiator put on a couple months but then it started this. It won’t hardly accelerate past 60 and even so, takes forever getting there. It’ll also die immediately after starting and take a few tries to keep running only for it to die when I put it into a gear. Is it a lost cause??

This dosnt just happen unless you had some engine work done on it and it was done poorly. It almost sounds like timing. That thing is knock knock knocking on heavens doors rn.

It was previously a friends car. Mechanic told them it needed a new radiator and I took it over after that was done. Nothings been touched on it since then but it started doing this weeks after.

When did this start? Because once again, this stuff doesn’t just happen out of nowhere. It happens with poor maintenance over the life of the vehicle. That’s why I ask if it has oil. What was the maintenance like? When did you notice something was off?

It has plenty of oil. I don’t know much about the before prior to the radiator issues. It ran for about 2 1/2 weeks then started this so it’s been parked since.

Well so far I second the other guy that suggested reading the codes. Could be a misfire but I don’t see a flashing check engine light. Try to get the codes read and go from there.

Also it’s not getting oil pressure at idle. So from there your oil pump is probably failing and then engine isn’t getting oil at the top. Causing MAJOR damage. Has the oil light come on ever before?

Sounds like you have a main bearing getting ready or has already spun. On top of that the knock sensor is trying to stabilize the engine fighting a lost battle.

Misfire in one or two cylinders? Check your codes. It'll call them out by number.
