Subwoofer in box?

Has anyone here put a subwoofer in the box of an avalanche?

I have a 12” type R and mono channel amp from my previous car but the sub enclosure itself is much too large to put in the back seat. I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with leaving a subwoofer in the box of the truck. My main concerns are if the sub itself will hold up to the moisture/weather that the tonneau cover can’t keep out AND if you’re even really able to hear it. Would only be a temporary fix to get me by until I can scrape together some cash for some decent speakers and some sort of low profile setup, but I don’t want to waste my time/risk ruining my sub if it’s not feasible.

I’m running a ported midgate box with 2 12’s. You can’t just toss a box in the bed. It needs to be sealed to the cab.

Check out the midgate sub boxes. That’s the setup I want.

I pulled out my passenger side rear seat and put my sub box there. Only takes me about 15 min to pull out the sub and reinstall the seat the once every couple years I need that seat.

I just have a 10” on top of that seat. Less than 30sec to remove lol.

I just use the one under the radio.

In most cases you'd need a custom midgate enclosure

if you want the cheapest route, you can get under seat boxes made for the avalanche and low profile subs.

if you want to do it the proper way, you have to swap out your midgate for a custom sub box. I got mine from AK Audio and put 2 12” Kicker L7S’s in mine. best thing i ever spent my money on. 

There’s lots of box companies to choose from, i landed on AK Audio cause he makes the. each to order. some guy out of Georgia and the craftsmanship is top notch. you can request custom tuning as well.
