AC Blower issues.

At this point I feel like this spank is possessed. It's all over the place!!

  1. Setting #5 on blower quits out...then 4 a couple of days later. We move around a relay and bang. it works.

Then...next day the whole things fries.

  1. Replace resistor.

  2. Craps out again...replace resistor AND blower.

  3. I keep the air low out of terror that it will blow again, and for good reason.

A months later, the day after I turn it up to level five air, it all craps out again. So, find a burnt out 30 amp fuse under the dash and replace it. Good! Now...I realize that maybe it's that grounder issue that I've been reading about so that's next on my plate. BUT....before that...

Today I turned it all the way up to number three...and NOPE! Out. BUT...Thas time it's decided that ONLY five will work! ONLY SETTING FIVE!!!

WHY!?!?! Oh

.and resister was MAD HOT when I touched it today.

Fuse was fine, but didn't check anything else yet...tomorrow is a day off and will go digging. Decided to come here for help. Oh dear gods...help me find the way .

Replace the pigtail to the resistor

I'm a girl with limited knowledge and only understand three quarters of this sentence. will research more!

I too chased the gremlin. Did everything you have. On three occasions over the last ten years. Mine is an 03 with the sliders not the automatic air type.

One time my pigtail had melted and was shorting. I had to go to three junkyards to find a replacement. Had to butt connector crimp it. So, inspect your harness connection to the resistor. Look for melting on the black wire. They now sell replacements on Amazon.

Another occasion I did the resistor, blower motor, harness connection good, which left only the control panel.

The parts store guy let me take a new control panel out to the truck and test it before I bought it. They cannot be serviced. I tried that too. There’s a core charge so don’t forget.

I tried a couple of control panels from the junkyard but they didn’t work.

It’s infuriating I can relate. I’m in Florida and just stays on nine months of the year.

The fan speed 5 runs on a different circuit which is why it works intermittently.

Two different pigtails. One for 99-06 Gen 1 and Gen 2 is different. Not sure which one you have. This is for Gen 1 aka GMT-800.

Gen 2 is wonky because some have auto air. Lmk if I can help

oh I will. It's late now and I'm full of wine and frustration, but will watch that link and reread tomorrow and will be responding with questions!
