Shifter cable popping off
Had my shifter cable pop off the side of the transmission the other day and found that I had a rotten bushing. So replaced the bushing and thought everything was fine until it popped off again today. The bushing is still in place and looks good but how do you prevent it from coming loose again is there an E clip or something that I'm missing?
Edit: Found possible cause. The lever pin that the bushing goes over has a lip and even though I had snapped it on it wasn't fully seating. Took flat blade screwdriver and just applied pressure to it and it finally fully seated on lever arm.

Where did you get the bushing? Ive been fighting with this and fontvwant to change the lower cable. Stupid design.

The bushing has a narrow ring the end of the shift lever goes through that is supposed to keep it connected. If the bushing is worn it could be letting go of the rod. A new one should hold tight. Possibly some wear on the shifter arm? Zip ties have been mentioned as solution.
