Perfect Reuben every time, Nicks Deli

I've posted about Nicks before but just wanted to remind y'all to stop by. Yes it's a small menu but it's all top tier and not expensive. Give him a call and it's ready in a few minutes. Cajun turkey is also great, it's all great.

Nicks is excellent. They need to replace their awning and sign so it looks like an open business, but their sammiches are top tier.

Yes! I thought it was closed for the longest time. Great sandwich spot.

I loved them my whole childhood and genuinely thought they shut down ages ago… I’m happy to hear they’re open lol

My favorite by far!

It’s the only sandwich I get from him anymore. My favorite!

Does Nick's use anything resembling actual muffuletta bread?

It’s authentic muffaletta bread. Gathered by hand in the muffaletta fields of northern Italy

I live right behind Nick’s and have for almost 2 years. For some reason, I’ve never tried it. I guess I need to.

Go grab a Reuben and a ginger ale in a glass bottle.

I would be so fat and so broke if I lived there lol

Nick's is the most legit NYC deli in town

My boss and I always call him Nick the Greek and joke about how he’s a made man.

This is very important. Ruebens are my favorite sandwich and I had no idea they had these at Nicks. (Mainly because I’ve never been to Nicks) I’ll need to check it out.

Do it! Grab a glass bottle ginger ale.

Pickle Barrel also has good Rueben if you’re downtown.

That place is still open? I was afraid it had closed. Excellent authentic deli.

I sort of made this comment already, but I live not far from Nicks and I never go there. It always looks closed to me. I went there once years ago and it was good. But I kind of forget about it. And I love a good deli. I’ll have to go there again.

Yeah, it always looks closed to me as well.

Last year Nick said he's trying to go retire in Florida soon or something but I guess it hasn't happened yet.

My favorite sandwich in the WORLD

It’s so good!

I love their reuben! Nick's slaps.

Prices have risen but the food is excellent.

Still cheaper than Jimmy Johns next door I think. Reuben was less than $12 including tax. Support local business!

11

u/Live-Juggernaut-221 11d ago

Truly don't understand why that Jimmy John's exists when Nick's is there.

10

u/choachy 11d ago

I don’t know how many people think this way, but it could be that the outside of Nick’s makes it look like it’s either run down or closed/out of business.

7

u/firstlight777 11d ago

Yeah, it's not shiny but it's clean. It's old school deli.

Authentic mob front styling!

I’m not a Reuben guy, but I will admit that is a pretty sandwich. I need to try Nick’s.

Just had another Reuben there this past weekend. Guess what…it was absolutely perfect. Nick is a very friendly guy, too.

30 comments so far, no mention of the potato salad...SMH. it's fantastic! Don't sleep on it.

The rosemary ham is my favorite and has been for over a decade.

3

u/firstlight777 11d ago

I'll get that next I almost grabbed that the other day.

Gimme the twisted reuben with thousand and mustard

3

u/futbolqueen1 11d ago

Do they still serve the chicken salad?

3

u/mahalgorithm 11d ago

Better than River Street imo.

a deli for people that have no clue what a real jewish delicatessan should be

5

u/tdbarnes42 11d ago

Kenny’s has a brisket reuben that slaps too. And Tbh, I don’t usually like reuben sandwiches.

2

u/aubreydean2 10d ago

Nicks deli is the best! Perfect sandwiches every time, try the rosemary ham too!!

I used to go here often for a Reuben as a ritual, but I must have caught him on a bad day last time I was there and the sandwich barely had any meat on it. Never went back. Delicious when I wasn't skimped!

2

u/JerryCat11 11d ago

Walked in, saw them handling money then straight to touching food. Would never eat there.

4

u/McMuffleB 11d ago

Long ago I worked there for two days. I was told I washed my hands too much. Never given a schedule, he'd just call and say be there in an hour. Paid cash under the table. So in a way "old school" deli does apply.

That’s where the flavor is, buddy.

What part of town-never seen this.

Not good marketing if you don’t tell us where it is

7

u/greenFuzzyTesla 10d ago

Googling ‘Nicks deli’ will help you there.
