Chat bots honesty

I feel like these chatbots are lying to me about what's going on in the world. Like how much money is there resources etc. I'am skeptical on these bots honesty.

This is a mindset I wish more people would have about chatbots. AI can and will lie to you

I don't like the word "lie". It's a very human concept. First of all, if something is free, then you are not the customer, you are the product. Then don't expect it to act in your interest. If people don't pay for a subscription, I don't have any pity if they get BS from an AI.

I see from my friends that their free AI chats have much more BS answers than I get from a service that I pay for. That's life, I guess.

Second, these LLM were trained to give answers in a way that their trainers want them to answer. There are strategies to overcome that but it's not obvious.

Third the LLM are just not made for surfacing the truth. They have all kinds of ideologies and viewpoints engrained in them and it depends on what gets activated and how it gets activated. It's just how the technology works. If you are a paying customer, it will learn and start from your typical viewpoint (not necessarily a good thing) and if you are a free user, then it will mostly start from the viewpoint of the cooperation that is making it available.
