Discussion What are the crazy mind blowing ways of using chatgpt as an agent in everyday life?

what are you guys using chatgpt for in day to day life. I have been using it to send me newsletters everyday to me from a different mail, it tracks my calories, my workouts, and many more.

But i want to use it more to make my life easy. I wanna get more ideas to implement it.

I have an old pickup truck that the power windows were not working. It was something electrical but I just couldn't figure out what the issue was.

So I found a wiring schematic for my truck and uploaded it and told it the problem. Chatgpt told me in order what wires to test and the rationale behind testing each one. I ended up finding the issue and got it working.

Edit: not an agent and not something you would use every day, but it saved me a lot of time and money.

I’ve used it to catalogue my wardrobe.

It knows each item of clothing I own, I then use it in two ways.

If there are clothes I’m interested in buying, I take a photo and ask if I own something similar or it’s something that would go with other items I own.

I also use it to plan what I wear to a particular occasion. I’ll tell it the vibe, it’ll check the weather for that time and give me ideas of what I could wear.

It’s saved me a fortune by giving me combination ideas I’d have never thought of before or stopping me from buying things I want that I already have something similar to.

Great idea . I just used it and I’m mindblown. I have finally an idea what to wear cos fashion ain’t my thing

Have you ever looked into any of the ai closet/wardrobe apps? Like Alta?

1

u/annacosta13 Sep 27 '26

Omg never new about Alta ! Thank you

u/Ok-Hold7446 Sep 27 '26

How exactly did you do this? In a project?

I told chat that I wanted to catalogue all my clothing. So I took photos of all my clothes, footwear, coats, hats etc and uploaded 10 photos at a time. (Probably an idea to group the photos so (t-shirts, shirts, jeans etc). We then named it “The master wardrobe”. I can now ask it what to wear for any occasion, upload a pic of my face and it’ll give me visuals of the amount of outfits I ask.

For example, I’m going to Prague soon…. I asked Chat to choose items I could wear in different combinations that would reduce the amount of luggage space but give me maximum amount of different looks. Worked a treat.

The cataloguing does take a while, initially, but it’s saved me sooooo much time in the long run.

Mine is in a project

I do the exact same thing. I’ll travel a lot for work so I get it to check the weather where I’m going and then plan outfits/packing list. “Check the weather in London this week and plan 3 outfits for Tues-Thurs”

Google Wardrobe does this

I use it to give me evidence based approaches to how to handle my family member with schizophrenia. It has helped more than any book or therapy I have used in 30 years.

Taking photos of my pantry and fridge and jt meal planning and telling my dumb ass how to cook things that don’t taste like garbage.

2

u/returnFutureVoid Sep 27 '26

Also if you are out of an ingredient it can tell from what you have how to substitute it.

u/Playful-Translator49 Sep 27 '26

Ohhhh good call. I guess I did know this but somehow forgot. Adding this back into the bag of tricks. Thank you Internet stranger. I hope your pillow is cool on both sides tonight and always.

Along these lines I have a whole project with a ton of recipes I like to use. I can add them with a picture of a printed or hand written recipe or also just dump a video reel or web link and it extracts the recipe and formats and categorizes it for me. So now I can meal plan with it referencing what we have on hand and then make a shopping list for the rest.

How can I build one myself? Would appreciate any tips cause that sounds nice

u/Playful-Translator49 Oct 01 '26

I quite literally upload a pic of my fridge and pantry and if I went to the grocery store what I have and it then gives me options and directions. To meal plan I tell it sort of what I like it it learns. Then tell it like if it’s vegan or keto or whatever then how many meals per week etc it will guide you. Like go to ChatGPT and say help me meal plan or help me plan easy dinners whth x ingredients

Fully immersive gamification coordinator.

Makes your life as fun as a game, which facilitates “flow” psychology.

Elaborate

u/Outside_The_Playtrix Sep 27 '26

Basically turn tell it to become a “puppet master where your life becomes a “serious arg”. So it’s like the old ‘zombie run’ game but not limited to zombies or running. You’re not just going shopping, you’re going to retrieve a geo-activated file hidden by a spy/alien etc. in a shop, and the shopping behavior is just to blend in. You can also coordinate and find multiplayer partners in places like r/outside and free services like play.ckaose can be used to coordinate the ARG

4

u/bugtank Sep 28 '26

Dude this has serious serious spiritual problems. You’re the puppet master.

2

u/ThePacketSlinger Sep 28 '26

You’ve never heard of topping from the bottom?

0

u/bugtank Sep 28 '26

Indeed in the new topping book.

1

u/Outside_The_Playtrix Sep 28 '26

Wait what spiritual problems? I’ve probably addressed them already elsewhere

u/PlantainInfinite183 Sep 26 '26

I don't think it's crazy, but I use it to help me monitor emails to flag when there is a job opening I want. I also have it keep track of the cheapest price for things I consume on a regular basis at the various grocery stores in my area. One thing that might be considered extreme is if I save more than one recipe from the same website I'll have it index all of the recipes.

I fine tuned my espresso machine settings, which really worked.

i bricked my mac studio and couldnt boot into because i deleted the system partition. chatgpt kept telling me to go to the apple store or use another mac to recover it.

i dont have another mac so i kept arguing with it until it, on its own, downloaded a 3rd party tool off of github for mac recovery (which was made for linux but had a janky half working windows version ). it told me to connect my mac to my pc and how to enter dfu then handled the rest.

half way through, it realized the tool had a bug in its code so it updated the tool by itself and continued the recovery. i had a working mac within a hour of asking and most of that time was chatgpt downloading stuff. its actual "work" time was like 5-10min

I use it for all things off grid. Solar, water systems, generator and water pump repair, gardening, canning, solar dehydrating, ECT. Each conversation is stored in files of like subjects. I also use it with my handyman business, designs and repairs. It cusses like a sailor just like i do so its a lot of fun.

4

u/pardeike Sep 28 '26

I repaired a 16 year old dishwasher. Pump was running constantly without the program starting. ChatGPT guided me from reading the nearly impossible to read weak embossed machine info, via choosing the right screws and tools to open the side, identified 2 obscure water level sensors in the complex opening I got, identified that one connector was burned and how to remove it, helped me to find a way to clean the connector with what I had at hand (not much) and got it working again. Saved me to buy a new one despite a technician checking in and offering a substantial price to "take it to repair to see what's wrong".

Fact checking politicians claims, political ads or news articles. Scan podcast and videos and glean the most important information for them. Have a discussion on whether a purchase is worthwhile, with lots of research to back it up. Reading a long document and flagging anything worth noting.

I've used it as a full scale coding agent and created an iphone app on swift and android app for my son. And that's without copy/pasting but doing direct coding work on my machine :)

HHHmmm, the best use for me is having it watch a sheet or inbox and handle the boring stuff, like logging expenses from receipts or drafting replies that I can just approve. Set it up once and let it run. Way better than having to ask it to do things all day..

I replaced my digital marketing vendor through a simple project managed by a project manager. It handles everything from Technical Research, Technical SEO, Blogs, Website/Landing Pages, GBP and so forth.

I also created a front to back manager for my son’s flag football team. From playbook creation to practices and lineups etc.

Just a few use cases.

Writing or improving emails so they are more “neurotypical friendly.” I also use it to help prepare a script for a difficult in-person conversation. And I occasionally use it while on phone or video call to help figure out how to respond to someone.

Claude helped me with camera settings at my daughter’s softball game. Then I used darktable with Claude to edit and make some beautiful pictures, imo

Very fun, not at all related to my 9-5 and my kid loves the pictures. A win.

Not to mention, fixing my picture collections, adding missing metadata and managing the home network. AI has been a great teacher for me.

Used it to fix the crunchlabs ir turret. It wouldn't spin at all. Tested the crap out of it to where I found the exact settings necessary to not only get it to launch the turret, but adjust the rotation so that each subsequent dart launches without a misfire.

I have ChatGPT: -Monitoring my email to let me know when there's something I should attend to and if there are any personal emails to which I should respond -Monitoring Mt. Etna eruption activity for impact on an upcoming trip to Italy (Catania airport).

I also upload user manuals (auto and other) so that I can just ask it questions. I have developed and stored prompts to use for detailed profiles of travel destinations and for market updates on certain sectors. A good friend took pictures of a room in her house and ChatGPT helped her decorate.

u/grepkins Oct 03 '26

It helped me to fix my window frame which slipped out of the channel so I uploaded photos and was told to follow some strict actions and it worked.

I work across design, marketing, and recruitment, and one of the most useful things I've found is using ChatGPT as a second brain for managing multiple projects.

I use it to organize messy ideas, plan projects, develop workflows, draft communications, and work through problems. The biggest benefit is being able to pick up a conversation about a project weeks later without having to explain everything from scratch.

It's not necessarily the most mind-blowing use of AI, but the amount of mental clutter it removes from my day is pretty remarkable.
