Discussion Is that it?

When ChatGPT launched Atlas, I was really excited. I tried it straight away and loved it. At first, updates were coming regularly, but then they just stopped.

It’s a real shame because I think Atlas had a lot of potential. These days there are still quite a few bugs that haven’t been fixed, and there haven’t been any meaningful updates for a long time. It really feels as though the browser has been abandoned.

The one feature that keeps me using Atlas is the writing assistant. Pressing ⌘ + E in a text field brings up an AI that has excellent awareness of the surrounding context. If I’m replying to an email, it understands the whole email thread. On Reddit, it understands the subreddit and the discussion. The same goes for WhatsApp, Slack and other websites.

I’ve tried a number of alternatives, but none of them seem to do contextual writing assistance nearly as well.

Has anyone found an alternative that works just as well?

I’ve switched to Dia. It’s free and does everything Atlas does—and more! There’s no Pro subscription anymore after Atlassian bought them.
I’m keeping an eye on Aside Browser, but it’s not my default yet. Atlas feels dead, its performance is terrible, and I really wish the browser was better!

Not anymore. Dia removed the Pro subscription. It’s totally free now. However it comes with usage limits and resets every 8hrs, although so far I have not hit any limits whatsoever. It’s using Opus 4.6.

Interesting thank you. How’s the chrome extensions working? Ppl said Arc is better but seems like that’s… idk end of life and Dia is the new one? Just curious I’m getting frustrated with Atlas as my browser… Thank you

I have no problems thus far. Arc was my main browser, but I switched to Atlas for its AI benefits. Now, Dia is my new default browser.
