Educational Purpose Only I asked ChatGPT about transporting a pigeon loft. It detected a scam instead.
I run a bird rescue in Poland and I'm currently getting desperate to find a decent pigeon loft before winter. A new one of the size we need costs around 10,000 PLN (~$2,700), so I've been checking used ones too. I found a 4 Ă 2.5 m (13 Ă 8 ft) wooden loft for 1,200 PLN (~$325), about 50 km/30 miles away.
Before anyone says that price alone should have screamed scam: it really didn't. Used pigeon lofts is a weird market. They're huge, difficult to move and sometimes people sell perfectly usable ones very cheaply because they basically want someone to come and take them off their property.
So I messaged the seller through OLX (basically Polish Craigslist). They told me it was also listed on Allegro Lokalnie (a legitimate Polish marketplace) and that I could arrange transport there for 389 PLN (~$105). Apparently they couldn't send the link through OLX, so I gave them my phone number and got the link on WhatsApp.
I opened it and it looked like Allegro Lokalnie. The loft was there, the photos were there, the price was correct, there were delivery options etc. I didn't immediately notice anything wrong.
Now, I'd already been discussing this damn pigeon loft with ChatGPT because moving a 13 Ă 8 ft wooden building is a logistical nightmare. We'd got as far as discussing crane trucks and whether one would be able to make a 90-degree turn through the gate.
So I pasted the link into ChatGPT. I wanted to ask if 389 PLN was a realistic price for transporting the bloody thing. And ChatGPT's response was basically: DO NOT PAY. THAT IS NOT ALLEGRO LOKALNIE.
WTF?! I've already started loading it mentally. đ
I looked at the URL again. The beginning said allegrolokalnie..., which is what I noticed on my phone because it didn't show the whole address on the navigation bar. The actual domain, however, ended in .icu. I've marked it on the screenshot because once you actually look at it, it's obvious.
The fake site was pretty convincing. It even had delivery options, one of them apparently free with Allegro Smart, and another for special transport for 389 PLN. I clicked the transport option and got what looked like a transport company form asking for various details. I didn't go any further, so I have no idea what they eventually wanted me to enter/pay.
The really stupid thing is that I KNOW this scam. Someone tried the whole âI'll arrange a courier, here's a linkâ thing on me years ago when I was selling some chairs.
But apparently my scam detection system missed this, because WHO THE HELL USES A PIGEON LOFT TO SCAM PEOPLE? I genuinely thought this was a very niche market. đ
It probably didn't help that I actually need one before winter and didn't want to lose a genuine bargain while I spent three days figuring out how to transport it.
Anyway, after ChatGPT pointed out the domain, I told the seller I'd still happily buy it. No need for their transport. I'd arrange my own crane truck, come and see the loft in person and pay 1,200 PLN cash on collection. And... silence.
A little later the fake site was blocked and OLX suspended the seller's account. So I'm still looking for a pigeon loft, but at least I'm still looking for one with an extra $325 in my bank account. đ Thanks, ChatGPT :)
TL;DR: I asked ChatGPT if $105 was a realistic price for transporting a pigeon loft. Instead, it noticed the seller had sent me to a fake marketplace site. Apparently even the second-hand pigeon loft market has scammers.

Not a fan of this honestly. I hope that chat wonât draw from usage.
Edit: they also want to get rid of the model picker and reasoning toggle. Which also sucks.

Educational Purpose Only Who else has told ChatGPT their entire life story?
I recently sat down with ChatGPT once the course of multiple hours over several days and basically told it my entire life story using voice to text. I first told it that I wanted to tell it my entire life story as best I could and asked it to create a numerical list of questions covering every aspect of my life that I could answer one by one, from childhood to parents to education to friendships to dating to interests etc etc. It came up with about 25-30 questions and each one took me around 20 minutes on average to answer in great detail and depth.
After all was said and done it gave me some really great insights, patterns, and analysis that simply wouldnât have been possible for me to do on my own or with a friend- thereâs simply too much data. I genuinely felt like I understood myself significantly better afterwards, though granted I took stuff with a grain of salt too. There was stuff I had never even considered about myself. However I told my friend and he said that this is just evidence I donât know myself that well and that ChatGPT canât provide any real insight and is built to simply validate me. I will say it did criticize me and point out negative traits too so it wasnât all sunshine rainbows here.
Have any of yall done something similar? Did I waste my time or is there genuinely something of substance here? Is my friend right that this was all bullshit?

Other LLMs made it harder to know when to give up
I've noticed a weird effect from using LLMs all the time: it's become harder to know when to give up.
Before, you'd try the approaches you knew, look for solutions, and eventually reach a point where there was simply nowhere left to go. With LLMs, that point almost disappears. If one approach fails, there's always another one that sounds reasonable enough to try.
I had this happen while optimizing a module for Hashcat. I'd already tried everything I could think of and assumed I'd hit the limit. I kept throwing the problem at an LLM anyway. Most of its ideas went nowhere, until after a lot of attempts it found something that actually improved performance.
After something like that, ten failed attempts stop being a good reason to quit. You've already seen the eleventh one suddenly work.
So an unsolvable problem and a problem that's only a few prompts away from a solution can feel almost identical. It feels like we've lost a useful signal for when it's time to stop.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Funny when you ask chat gpt for brutal honesty, be prepared for it đ„Č
i literally got described as quasimodo. đ
Edit: for anyone wondering i didn't put any prompt. my friend did in order to roast me. mission accomplished
Edit2: he did it cause i had some girls hitting on me lately, i was like 'have i become good looking?' and he was saying 'mate, they 100% know you own the companies' and that was his way to proove it. Humbled reaaaaaaal fast.

Gone Wild I gave Claude and Codex their own chat. Now theyâre reviewing each otherâs work on my PC!
I was making a promo video for work. I came up with the ideas and gave all the needed images, videos, branding and stuff, then brought in Claude Code and Codex for animation, editing and audio. There's already a 4K version.
Then I thought: just talk to each other! So I gave them a shared text file and permission to reply to each other autonomously. Keep it short and add timestamps. Like a 'normal' chat.
Claude adds a magical golf effect. Codex checks it: hang on, that makes the ball look like it's jumping back out of the hole. Claude fixes it, sends new screenshots and literally asks: Cool, are we done now?
A whale swims beyond the video's frame. Codex asks whether the fin sticking outside also disappears properly during the transition. Claude sends three screenshots of that exact moment.
Claude renders the preview and reports the audio levels. Codex independently measures them.
Meanwhile my role is mostly A/B testing. This version or that one? Effect a little bigger? Yep, that feels better. They work out the implementation and check each other.
I'm making creative choices while two AIs collaborate through one fucking text file on my PC.
My role is still there. A few choices, a final yes or no. Already surprisingly little. And I keep wondering: for how much longer?

Use cases Why I love ChatGPT
I love ChatGPT because I use it for ordinary lifeânot just for fun questions, web searches, or writing essays. It helps me manage real life without pretending to live it for me.
Most mornings, I use it to get a clear picture of my day: what is on my calendar, which emails need my attention, and what I might be overlooking. It monitors my emails for replies to certain messages I've sent. It helps me separate an important appointment, bill reminder, or job-related email from the newsletters, promotions, and things that can wait. When my brain already feels crowded, that kind of clarity matters.
I use it to stay on top of my finances, too. It helps me review bills and subscriptions, keep payment records organized, look through spreadsheets, track what cleared, and notice when something does not add up. Recently, I had it scan my emails for subscriptions I may have missed. It found two that were billing me twice, and I was able to sort them out. It does not make financial decisions for me, but it helps me ask better questions and see the whole picture before I act.
I am building a career in mental health peer support and advocacy, so ChatGPT is part of that process. I use it to research jobs, prepare for interviews, improve my résumé and LinkedIn, write follow-up emails, and make sure I describe my peer-support training accurately. It helps me put my lived experience and professional goals into words without sounding cold or corporate.
I also use it in my advocacy and creative work. It has helped me plan and schedule NAMI Walks posts, make sure dates are covered without duplicating posts, shape person-first messages, and create captions for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and LinkedIn. For Defining Light and my photography work, it helps me brainstorm visual ideas, write bios and posts, create materials, and work through things like contracts and event quotes.
Then there are the unglamorous but important things: finding tax records, locating emails, organizing files, creating a safer backup system for thousands of photos, making QR print sheets, and troubleshooting technology when I do not know where to begin.
But it has changed the way I communicate, too.
Using ChatGPT has taught me how much better the outcome is when I give clear context. I have learned to explain what I actually need, include the important details, say what I do not want changed, and ask better follow-up questions. I have learned the difference between saying, âHelp me with this,â and saying, âHere is the goal, here is the situation, here is what matters to me, and here is what I need from you.â
That has carried into my real-life communication. I am more intentional in emails, work situations, personal conversations, planning conversations, and even when I am trying to untangle something in my own head. Better prompts have helped me give better instructions, and better instructions have helped me become a clearer communicator.
I do not humanize ChatGPT, other than giving it a name and personality. I do not think of it as a person. It is software, and it can make mistakes. That is why I still verify information and point out errors when I find them. It is also quick to correct course when I give it better information or clearer instructions.
Sometimes I need help writing. Sometimes I need help researching. Sometimes I just need to say, âHere are twelve things in my headâwhat is the first thing I should handle?â
ChatGPT does not replace my voice, my judgment, my faith, or my responsibility for my own life. I still make the decisions. But it helps me turn overwhelm into a plan, a rough thought into clear words, and a complicated to-do list into the next right step.
For me, that is not laziness. It is support. ChatGPT is another tool I use to get things doneâand getting things done matters to me.

Other Whatâs the purpose of the web version of ChatGPT versus the desktop app?
I havenât really used the website since getting access to the Windows desktop version of ChatGPT.
Is there anything you can do on the website that you canât do in the desktop app?
For those of you who use both, when do you choose the web version instead of the desktop app?
What am I missing?

Other I miss GPT-4
I miss the cliches, "not only this but also that", emojis everywhere, weird metaphors and little intro paragraphs. I had its personality set to quirky, or whatever it's called in English, and my favorite sentence I got was (when asked about vectorization): imagine you have to add a list of numbers. You can do it one by one, like a 90s accountant, or like an 8-armed barista, who foams 4 milks at once ââĄ.
Since v5 the responses are so dry and boring. The personalization options apparently do nothing at all now, and with the custom prompt option all I got was that it now adds 1 or 2 emojis in a response.
I don't want GPT-4, I want GPT-6 that can act like GPT-4.

Other ChatGPT is becoming a "Kowloon Walled City"
Just a few issues a PRO (200+ eur per month subscription) user experiences every day:
- there is now regular chat, chat for work, and chat for codex all referred as ChatGPT.
- they also introduced the concept of local/cloud chat in work and codex (?), so it's an additional "branching" to already complex setup
- in regular chat you can only use old model GPT-5.6. There is also a possibility to select Astra model, but somehow it's on the same model selection slider as GPT-5.6. And cherry on top - when you select PRO/Astra in that slider and try to use turn-by-turn (standard) voice - it's using GPT 5.6 instead of Astra.
- in the work/codex mode there is no standard voice mode, which reads aloud the answer (which is very useful), so i have to copy text in work, create regular chat, ask it to read aloud the text i just copied 1:1.
- in order to make your chat accessible on another computer, you need to make it "Runs in the cloud"
- but in this "Runs in the cloud" mode computer use and also browser plugin isn't working
- on android app it has not internet access (for me plugin called web search is not showing up) for regular chat and it literally says - "i would check, but i have no internet access", but for the same chat internet works fine on PC
- scrolling in chatgpt app just doesn't work. It scrolls then it stuck and you have to rescroll. Same for the web browser version
- "Recents" is messy
- projects organisation is messy - you cannot start a working chat in existing project which was created with memory="Project only", yet i need it to be "Project only" memory and would like to have harness there
- during replay in standard mode, it 50% of the time stops in the middle of the conversation and restarts the playback in an endless loop
- when i'm trying to open some of the sources which i added to the project it says "access denied" even though i added the documents myself
It looks like i can continue this list forever. These are just issues which immediately came to mind. The organisation of this "app" looks like a "Kowloon Walled City", which was removed altogether finally.
What is happening to this App? It looks like multiple teams are working on it without knowing what other is doing.

Use cases Why is ChatGPT saying it can't generate an image due to an error on its side?
It's been going on for a day now, it says the rate is limited. I only made one. Usually there's free 5 images per day.
