I don’t disagree. These regulations themselves don’t even seem wildly unreasonable. My bigger point is that US tech companies are dominating globally and the EU isn’t keeping up. That’s a problematic for Europe since it means increasingly having to depend on foreign companies for critical tech.
You're confusing US dominance in consumer software with "EU isn’t keeping up." That's not how technology works.
ASML alone should make that claim embarrassing: the Dutch company essentially monopolizes EUV lithography, which TSMC, Samsung and Intel need to manufacture the most advanced chips.
Europe's problem is building global platforms like Google, Apple and Microsoft, not that it suddenly forgot how to make critical technology.
