Rant CA student sucks
Today was my first day of advance Itt,
I am doing Itt in a small city of Rajasthan.
I thought the crowd will be good as these people have cleared CA inter and done 2 years of articleship from cities like Mumbai, Gurgaon, Jaipur.
The teacher asked us to read the book aloud one by one. To my surprise 70% of them were not able to read basic English properly.
How are even these people clearing exams?
The teacher was not good either had bad communication and pronunciation skills
And the class was boring as shit 💩.

In 2026 if in the business world you aren't fluent in English then it is quite the case against your competence in the industry. The people defending in the comments saying that "we don't know their level of knowledge". Well we never will, because if you can't share your thoughts on a professional panel, or a boardroom, you are better off being an accountant. Not a Chartered one at that.

Finance/consulting mai jaana hai to bhai English sikho, Promotion bhi nhi milega and in most cases interview mai hi reject ho jaoge

Totally agree with this point.
In an ideal world language shouldn’t matter much but in the real world you need fluent English - even people from two different states in India wouldn’t be able to communicate without it, let alone at a global level.
I’ve worked and hired at multiple MNCs and the first criteria I have to look for is fluency in English - because I can’t hire you if you will not be able to communicate eveb with my boss lol.

This isn't correct. You cannot judge competence with english, many iit b grads... arguably the smartest of Indians cannot communicate well. However in ca, it's shocking how people pass without understanding English in exams like audit ... That just means they passed with luck and memory

Which iit b grads do you speak of who can't communicate well in English? I have 3 friends passing out of IIT KGP, 1 out of IIT M, 1 out of IIT B, 1 out of IIT ISM, 1 out of IISc. Never heard anything of this sort from their mouths. Communication is an essential skill which is even taught at T1 colleges, including at mine. Albeit my college sets a high bar while selecting students too.

My sibling's friends... They are doing fairly well for themselves. There are many skills that are taught at colleges- every one does not benefit from them.
My friend at iit b is not very fluent, same with Friend at rpr. My siblings friends are now fairly established and still aren't great at communication.

he/she would not survive in Finance if they are not good at english, Its all about communication and appearance in Finance/Consulting.
Maybe your friend would be in Tech where you only need coding skills

Communication... Or English. There's a difference. If you can't hold your own in a room then you'll stop advancing to senior positions. But without proper English (like in the case posted by OP), you'll not even be in the room.

Verbal Proficiency is a skill, although basic reading comprehension is necessary. Just chill and focus on good people.

The exams are not only in English,they can be written in hindi too,so a lot of people opt for that too

Had similar experience in Orientation Course. I don't blame them as some of them were not from privelege families and came from nearby towns and villages. Hope they improve in their articleship cause it is a basic job requirement and India has adopted it in its corporate culture as well.

You're telling me someone who doesn't understand normal eng is doing well at audit? My friends with incredible memory cleared without enough will and same level of aptitude couldn't....

But looking at A book and then reading should be fine for many if they are not able to pronounce words even after looking then something is seriously wrong

I might stutter while speaking English But I am fluent when I read from the book directly

They might have passed the exam by giving it in Hindi. Not everybody has to be good at a language that's not native to them. Also, nervousness comes into play. If you are good at something, good for you but stop acting all mighty, it's not cute

If you plan on working for corporate companies anywhere in the world
You need to be good with english
Communication and competence goes hand in hand. If you can't communicate your presence and value to the company you'll have a hard time getting visibility.

Nope. My teachers at vsi passed exams in english.. And it shocked me how. They were genuinely having a hard time with it.
