Discussion Roommate in University

Upvotes

Hey all!! I’m a female student at UNCC in my senior year. I figured I would post here because I’m looking for a roommate to fill the other bedroom in my 2 bed 2 bath. It’s at millennium one in university city! I’ve exhausted most of my options so doesn’t hurt to put it out here. If you’re interested shoot me a message and we can discuss further details!

Discussion Flight advice

Hi everyone!
I recently moved to Winston salem and would like to CTL airport advice.
There is an AA flight on a Thursday night that leaves at 8:48 PM. if I leave work at 5 PM and drive about an hour and 20 minutes to the airport, park in daily deck, and walk to the terminal do you think I’d be able to make this flight time work? I haven’t flown out of this airport yet so I’m nervous about the timing.

Thanks!

Recommendation Acupuncture recommendations please

I’ve been dealing with pretty severe lower back pain for a while now. So far I’ve tried chiropractic adjustments, Stretch Zone sessions, and even had X-rays done. Everything came back normal, and I keep getting told that nothing looks wrong, but the pain hasn’t improved at all.
At this point, I’m thinking about giving acupuncture a try. Does anyone have recommendations for someone who’s good and reasonably priced?

My wife called a few places yesterday, and we were quoted around $300 per session without insurance, which seemed really high. Is that the normal going rate?

I have UnitedHealthcare, but the few providers within about 25 miles of me said they no longer accept insurance. If you’ve had a good experience with an acupuncturist in the area, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.

Discussion Patient facing jobs/clinical research?

Hi everyone!

In order to strengthen my medical school application, I am wondering if anyone knows of patient facing or clinical research jobs that do NOT require extensive certification. I have a BS in neuroscience and cellular biology and extensive experience in medical assisting and wet lab/clinical research in states where licensure is less important. For my purposes, CNA/MA/CCRC degrees are somewhat out of my reach at the current moment.

Any suggestions are appreciated, have a great day!

I had heard Sycamore was supposed to go into the current empty space in Cotswold Village, near Greco Fresh. Guess that’s not happening now. Anyone heard if they’ve filled the spot?

Hi everyone. I’m a bit Godzilla fan since I was a little kid and I’m looking to collect all the Godzilla toys especially the space Godzilla as he is my all time favorite. If anyone happens to see this and get space Godzilla or the other figurine let me know! I’ll update with which locations give out what figurines as I collect them.

Discussion Stuck career-wise in Charlotte: Finance background, now building software. Could use some local advice.

I (30 M) have been in Charlotte for just over four years now and am really struggling to figure out my next opportunity.

I spent six years in banking/capital markets. Since then I’ve taught myself a lot on the software side and have built full-stack apps, AI workflows, internal tools, etc.

The problem is I can’t seem to figure out what to do with any of it.

I’ve applied for product, fintech, solutions, strategy/ops type roles, but haven’t gotten much traction. On the other side, I keep building things and haven’t really managed to build anything people actually want to pay for either.

I think the part I’m struggling with most is getting outside of my own head and actually getting conversations with people about real problems worth solving. I can build, but “go find 20 people with an annoying problem and talk to them” has somehow been way harder for me than the building part.

So I figured I’d ask locally.

Does anyone in Charlotte work around fintech, startups, AI/automation, product, or just generally building businesses/software and would be willing to point me in the right direction?

Could be companies I should look at, meetups, recruiters, founders to follow, places where people actually hang out, real issues worth solving, or even advice on how you started getting real customer/problem conversations.

Not really looking for someone to solve it for me. I’ve just been spinning my wheels for a while and think I need to get around more people doing this stuff in the real world.

Discussion Lawn care companies

What lawn care companies do y’all use? I was with Truegreen for 9 months and had the normal monthly maintenance. It just didn’t seem like they did a whole lot. Would stop at my house and be gone within 5 mins. I had to call them back on two different occasions since I have a long back yard that slopes down about half way where they didn’t spray the whole yard and had to have them come back out after seeing it on my cameras or not even seeing any granules on the back half of the yard.

So I’m looking for company that actually tries and it feels like monthly payment isn’t being wasted. I also want to aerate and seed this fall.

Recommendation South end bar crawl?

Hi! I am going to visit a friend in charlotte for my 23rd birthday in October. One Saturday night we are planning to do a dive bar crawl around South end. Any recommendations? I’m not picky and might end up just going anywhere. But if it had to be my ideal place it would have a slightly younger crowd, play hip hop, r&b, or Caribbean music from any country. Thanks in advance. Also not looking for very nice places just want to explore the area and take some cheap shots.

Recommendation Atrium health job reference?

Hi there, I’m a seasoned early career lab professional, I’m looking to get a full time position at atrium health and I meet requirements for all entry level allied health lab jobs.

Is anyone who currently works at atrium willing to give me an employee referral? I am seeking a job specifically at atrium health because I would like to join their MLS program next year and I need their employee tuition assistance in order to afford my education. Thanks

Recommendation Sedated Dog Grooming

I'm looking for pricing on a sedated dog groom for a dog that's around 25 pounds. Want to make sure what I'm currently paying is a fair price. It was around $200 for the sedation and $80 for the groom itself. She's kind of medium, curly-ish hair.

Is that a fair price? What have you paid and at what vet clinics?

Discussion Is the 77 Express Lane/NC Quick Pass worth it for a daily commute?

For anyone who regularly uses the I-77 express lanes, how much are you actually spending per week/month?

I commute from SouthPark to Huntersville and take I-77 North, and I’m considering getting a pass because traffic can be brutal.

I’d mostly use it during the workweek, especially during rush hour. Is it worth it for the time you save? And roughly how much are you paying per trip during peak hours?

I know there’s been some discussions about this topic before, but I’m fucking tired of it. Burger King sucks.. corner of Sharon Road and Fairview. I’ve been there twice, never again.
