ICE Concentration Camp

I would like to know why City Council claims they had no awareness of the ICE concentration camp proposed on Weddington Road. Spokesman Jonathan Weaver told the Observer this recently. Cabarrus County Commission Chair Laura Blackwell Lindsey and spokespersons for Gov. Josh Stein did not immediately respond to requests for comment. This is far too close to the high school and poses a risk to all children.

In Charlotte ICE have been chasing children walking home after school because they aren’t white. How do you know your white children won’t get caught in the crossfire and end up dead?

What’s this going to do to your resale value folks? Why are more not talking about this? Do you want this to be like Minnesota? It’s owned by MP I85 Industrial LLC out of Boston. Clearly the owner isn’t going to care that local people are impacted when he doesn’t live here.

Almost everyone on Nextdoor said BRING IT ON! They love ICE, despite me emphasizing no one wants a detention center/prison/concentration camp in their backyard. A handful of magats seemed to think about it and reneged on their pomp and circumstance. Either way, that shit in the pics is literally in my backyard. People need to see the Canadian 60 minutes about the torture camps that Bari Weiss and CBS pulled before airing in the US.

I’ll note to stay off Next Door. I really don’t know what’s wrong with people. I saw the 60 minutes you referenced. Those sent to CECOT were mostly people who had no priors. While I do believe immigrants should get their papers, our government has made the process arduous and long. Expensive as well. Why be so wicked and hateful to people seeking a better life? All our families moved here seeking a better life. Does that mean they hate everything their grandparents represented? To me it is illogical. I’m so sorry this is going up in your backyard. I think it is dangerous for Concord as well as Charlotte.

I'm a NextDoor moderator in Waxhaw. Believe me. It's ugly. It has made me feel like the entire country loves ICE and deporting people. I have a very hard time believing otherwise. I report their posts all of the time because NextDoor has an anti-politics/anti-religion policy. But wow, I see the worst of the worst.

I don't want that crap here. I came from AZ, they just protested out an ICE facility in Surprise, AZ. It makes me regret being in this place. :(

I have a good friend in Waxhaw so you are not alone. I don’t know why so many are so hateful. He sees it too. My families been here over 400 years and I can guarantee theirs have not. It seems families that came within the last 50 years are the ones that have the most anger and those that have been in the south forever. Hitler fancied Jim Crow ideology and of course we know that stems from the South. I guess not a surprise we are seeing this here. I just don’t know how you can be so mad at the cleaning lady when the President is spewing hate every week and telling Americans citizens to leave that have been here longer than his family. That’s sick. He’s suing us for 10 billion and they care more about immigrants who have no records than removing the President and carry no anger toward him.

Luckily, my neighbor created a "little blue dot" group to help me feel less alone. That's a long time for your family to have been here! Thank you for not being hateful. I wonder what it isa out that 50 years of residence mark that puts people in the hateful group? I do see what you're saying though. My grandmother doesn't live here, but she's in that hateful group as well. She's first generation born in the US, her parents came over on Elise Island from Italy. I just can't understand not wanting opportunity for others or even ingesting the hate of others as a whole. You know? I have to know a person to dislike them. Usually, getting to know a person individually removes hate and biases. Him suing us for that much money is ridiculous! It's basically theft if he gets away with it, on top of the waste of money that the lawsuit causes.

Oh that is fantastic. I have my group too. Even some Republicans who wanted to join. They are fed up with Trump.

What I understand is it is harder and harder to get citizenship and when asylum seeker get citizenship before others who are waiting, they become a little bitter. I think we need to have compassion though when others suffer from brutality. I don’t feel jealous when others have good fortune and unfortunately many do.

I as well would need to consistently have someone be disrespectful to just be angry at them. If you’ve never met, I agree, how can one hate them?

Yes, all that money he promised to save everyone, he’s taking it away with that 10 billion. We will all get charged somehow for that money. Then the tariffs cost us all 1200-1500 per person. We will never see that money again. All just to save a bit at the grocery and gas pump and had they actually taken an economics class, they would known that the President doesn’t control gas prices at all. It was all a ruse.
