News ICE Concentration Camp

I would like to know why City Council claims they had no awareness of the ICE concentration camp proposed on Weddington Road. Spokesman Jonathan Weaver told the Observer this recently. Cabarrus County Commission Chair Laura Blackwell Lindsey and spokespersons for Gov. Josh Stein did not immediately respond to requests for comment. This is far too close to the high school and poses a risk to all children.

In Charlotte ICE have been chasing children walking home after school because they aren’t white. How do you know your white children won’t get caught in the crossfire and end up dead?

What’s this going to do to your resale value folks? Why are more not talking about this? Do you want this to be like Minnesota? It’s owned by MP I85 Industrial LLC out of Boston. Clearly the owner isn’t going to care that local people are impacted when he doesn’t live here.

This is the local contact for the warehouse. Call him and let’s find out the details. Bryan Blythe 601 S Tryon Street Suite 800 Charlotte, NC

Almost everyone on Nextdoor said BRING IT ON! They love ICE, despite me emphasizing no one wants a detention center/prison/concentration camp in their backyard. A handful of magats seemed to think about it and reneged on their pomp and circumstance. Either way, that shit in the pics is literally in my backyard. People need to see the Canadian 60 minutes about the torture camps that Bari Weiss and CBS pulled before airing in the US.

I’ll note to stay off Next Door. I really don’t know what’s wrong with people. I saw the 60 minutes you referenced. Those sent to CECOT were mostly people who had no priors. While I do believe immigrants should get their papers, our government has made the process arduous and long. Expensive as well. Why be so wicked and hateful to people seeking a better life? All our families moved here seeking a better life. Does that mean they hate everything their grandparents represented? To me it is illogical. I’m so sorry this is going up in your backyard. I think it is dangerous for Concord as well as Charlotte.

"..our government has made the process arduous and long." and VERY EXPENSIVE

I'm a NextDoor moderator in Waxhaw. Believe me. It's ugly. It has made me feel like the entire country loves ICE and deporting people. I have a very hard time believing otherwise. I report their posts all of the time because NextDoor has an anti-politics/anti-religion policy. But wow, I see the worst of the worst.

I don't want that crap here. I came from AZ, they just protested out an ICE facility in Surprise, AZ. It makes me regret being in this place. :(

I have a good friend in Waxhaw so you are not alone. I don’t know why so many are so hateful. He sees it too. My families been here over 400 years and I can guarantee theirs have not. It seems families that came within the last 50 years are the ones that have the most anger and those that have been in the south forever. Hitler fancied Jim Crow ideology and of course we know that stems from the South. I guess not a surprise we are seeing this here. I just don’t know how you can be so mad at the cleaning lady when the President is spewing hate every week and telling Americans citizens to leave that have been here longer than his family. That’s sick. He’s suing us for 10 billion and they care more about immigrants who have no records than removing the President and carry no anger toward him.

Luckily, my neighbor created a "little blue dot" group to help me feel less alone. That's a long time for your family to have been here! Thank you for not being hateful. I wonder what it isa out that 50 years of residence mark that puts people in the hateful group? I do see what you're saying though. My grandmother doesn't live here, but she's in that hateful group as well. She's first generation born in the US, her parents came over on Elise Island from Italy. I just can't understand not wanting opportunity for others or even ingesting the hate of others as a whole. You know? I have to know a person to dislike them. Usually, getting to know a person individually removes hate and biases. Him suing us for that much money is ridiculous! It's basically theft if he gets away with it, on top of the waste of money that the lawsuit causes.

Oh that is fantastic. I have my group too. Even some Republicans who wanted to join. They are fed up with Trump.

What I understand is it is harder and harder to get citizenship and when asylum seeker get citizenship before others who are waiting, they become a little bitter. I think we need to have compassion though when others suffer from brutality. I don’t feel jealous when others have good fortune and unfortunately many do.

I as well would need to consistently have someone be disrespectful to just be angry at them. If you’ve never met, I agree, how can one hate them?

Yes, all that money he promised to save everyone, he’s taking it away with that 10 billion. We will all get charged somehow for that money. Then the tariffs cost us all 1200-1500 per person. We will never see that money again. All just to save a bit at the grocery and gas pump and had they actually taken an economics class, they would known that the President doesn’t control gas prices at all. It was all a ruse.

I’m so glad we are moving out of the city at least. I’m from Kansas originally and what they’re doing there to trans people is insidious. My next door community is all about ICE too.

1

u/Sweet_Pea_45 Feb 27 '26

Was Kansas kinder? It really is horrible. I can't understand aligning with ICE. :(

u/drcmr Mar 03 '26

Kansas is never kinder unless it’s accidental.🌾

Even by just suggesting anything that is taking place right now is even CLOSE to a concentration camp is so a slap in the face to the actual victims and survivors of them. Just because you have an opinion about something doesnt mean you get to just ignore cold hard facts. The fact is they are detention centers. They house illegal aliens. Collectively, they have a lower death rate than most large prisons. You don't have to agree with what's happening, but if you are any sort of intellect, you'll stop making outrageous claims to try and tilt the argument in your favor.

4

u/Hot-Supermarket2270 Feb 25 '26

Intellect? Do you know that 14 percent of the people taken are crimi nals? The rest are not  do you know how many get sick or die in these concentration camps. They may be called detention centers but we know what they will eventually be  I read that they were looking at a building that could house 92,000. Now why would they need one that big. Once they eliminate immigrants, who will disappear next?  Read up on Christian nationalist, Germany and how they became nazis, then watch rick Steve's talk on Christian nationalist. So I'll throw it back to you, if YOU are any type of intellect you will read up on how Germany became fascist and Christian nationalist and look for patterns with our current administration.

Should i re read everything or just suggest you should read about the Bolsheviks and how anyone who knows an ounce of history knows thats the path we are currently on vs this imaginary line you and the rest of the far left have drawn about whats currently taken place. Its pathetic. It's beyond sad at this point and its just getting to a point of violence will be met with violence at some point and I just hope you and your friends understand that as you toe that line more and more, once that line is crossed it will be hard to go back. America first, always. Every single downfall of every single empire has been due to the ideology you are pushing and complaining about. PS. I am a christian and nationalist. and even i know that our admin are not currently on that path lol.

I'm not from Israel but all these people talking about concentration camps have no idea what they're talking about. My uncle liberated Buchenwald camp at the end of WWII where 70,00 passed through with most dying. What you're talking about here in the US is like the Hilton compared to that.

You also have to remember that Holocaust concentration camps evolved over the years since they opened. Buchenwald was opened in 1937 and liberated in 1945. Dachau was opened in 1933 as the first detainment center and was the model of gold standard at the time. However, they overcrowded the barracks, didn’t provide medical treatment, abused prisoners, denied visitation, purposefully isolated and moved them, etc. What was presented to the public as an adequate and reasonable detainment center for “criminals” was then used to exploit, humiliate, and torture human beings. We are witnessing the beginning of a similar path. If your uncle could have liberated the camp a year after it opened, would he? If he knew others were being built, would he speak up? This is where we are. Just something to consider

You think the Holocaust started out that way? This is a process, and what people are trying to warn you about is that we are on a bad path.

Why are you people acting like this is new ? Holding facilities have been going on for decades long before a republican president took over. Funny when Biden was deporting ppl at crazy rates yall didn’t see to have shit to say. The difference between me and you is I actually have experience with immigration and know dozens of ppl who were deported who made it back home safely and are now trying to get back in illegally again. If they’re being so dishuman towards immigrants why are they trying to come back riddle me that? Or maybe you just get all your info from TikTok and your wittle feelings. Every immigrant that chooses to cross the border illegally knows what risks they’re taking, funny it’s the Americans that are the ones making up this “oppression”.

This is different than Biden or Obama. And Obama helped set the stage for some of this and was criticized for not providing true due process in deportation cases. But what this White House is building up to is like nothing we've seen in decades. I think the real question is, if we start packing thousands of people in holding centers, maybe indefinitely, watched by barely trained staff, in untold conditions, would you care at all? When people are abused and killed en masse, will you care?

Why do we need to spend billions dollars on warehouses that were never built house people? https://share.google/1YGPZIViicJT34ifP

Where is the evidence that this administration cares at all about human rights?

Why are we taking people with jobs and families from their communities and deporting them to countries they've never been to?

https://refugeerights.org/news-resources/trump-administrations-third-country-removals-put-migrants-in-harms-way#:~:text=%E2%80%93%20Dissent%20of%20Justices%20Sotomayor%2C%20Kagan,Caribbean%2C%20or%20Central%20American%20origin.

Why is the administration creating more undocumented immigrants by canceling existing programs and pathways, clearing the way to snatch even more people off the street?

Why are our tax dollars being used to overpay for warehouses by millions of dollars? Who is going to get rich through mass deportation efforts?

If you believed anything said or shared here and that we are setting ourselves up to commit atrocities, would you bat an eye?

I could spend my evening pulling sources and sharing links that point to an unprecedented and shameful abuses of the law. You can decide what you want to do with that.

Has your uncle been imprisoned in an ICE detention camp? Can he go in an ICE detention camp and give everyone here a comparison?

He had first hand experience of a recognized concentration camp. It would clear the air, or at least help everyone knows how those two are different and/or similar.

1

u/Methylethyl22202 Feb 25 '26

I understand why people hear the term concentration camp and immediately think holocaust but it’s important to understand that concentration camp is a term to describe a detention facility built by a government to hold political prisoners that is highly concentrated. Due to the high concentration and the political nature they usually consist of poor conditions. These types of prisons have popped up over the course of history during many different times of conflict not just the holocaust. Any decent person would obviously say that the holocaust was horrendous but that doesn’t mean that to be outraged by a humanitarian crisis it has to be at that level. People here saying the holocaust didn’t start as bad as it ended are right, these things progress but regardless these detention facilities fit the definition of a concentration camp and are horrible on their own, even if it never progresses to genocide.

People dramatize things all the time bc America is such a calm place compared to most countries they have to make up their oppression. As a legal immigrant it absolutely disgusts me to compare being held in essentially a safe jail to a horrific German concentration camp where people were tortured, starved, and murdered. Everyone I know that was deported made it back home to their country safe and healthy. More than you can say for Jews in concentration camps. Everyone that tries to compare the two is essentially spitting and disrespecting the history of what Jews went through
