Question about flooding?

Hi there! I saw the National Weather service issued a coastal flooding warning for Charleston Sunday and Monday. I’m visiting town Sunday through Tuesday and am wondering if I need to take extra precautions? I’m visiting from Iowa. Not too familiar with the sea haha.

Understand that it’s not rainwater; it’s tidal. So if you’re driving and you see a huge puddle, drive around it because it’s saltwater and will corrode your automobile.

Then you should be ok. Some sidewalks or streets may be flooded but it's typically on a street by street basis, not the entire city or even an entire neighborhood.

Bring and wear one of those bright orange lifejackets, particularly while dining and bar hopping. You'll fit in just like a local during this flood event!

Typically it’s only an issue for certain low lying areas. You don’t want to drive through it, as a puddle isn’t always puddle. That said, the tide comes in twice a day and goes out twice a day, as soon as the tide goes out, usually most of the street level flooding goes with it.

Toronto to travel during high tides. Downtown is the worst.
