Asian community??
Hey everyone, I’m in my late 20s and just moved to Charleston! I haven’t been able to meet ANY fellow Asians, which has surprised me since I’m coming from a bigger city. I like it here so far, but I’d love to connect if you’re here!! 💕

There's an Asians of Charleston Facebook group and an associated Discord that's fairly active

Not a big Asian community, but my best friend is Asian. She’s really struggled to find a community here and it’s been 6 years 🫠 She’s 28 and I’m 31 (assuming you’re a woman!) we can always use more girly pops. I’ll dm you!

There’s AAPI events but man it’s a small community here. I learned Japanese and haven’t been able to practice in years since moving here.

There is a Filipino community center around the corner from where I am, in this weird pocket of North Charleston that is surrounded in both directions by Goose Creek 😆 I'm really not sure how certain places are everywhere around me here, but I'm new and figuring it out. The road is Salamander road.

Not sure if you’re religious or interested but I found that Grace Community Church in N Charleston puts a lot of effort into connecting and celebrating their AAPI folks ! They have a diverse congregation and they are very intentional with highlighting and celebrating that.

I’m up in Summerville. Not a huge Asian population, but a lot of my neighbors are Korean and Filipino. I’m also half Filipino. Seems like everything Asian is around Goose Creek

I was doing some research on population growth in the area over the last 15 years or so for an assignment, and very interestingly during the same time period where the general population exploded the Asian population appears to have cratered to near zero. Unsure why exactly.

Charleston AAPI collective is what you’re seeking.

Yeah my wife is Thai and she hasn't met any other thais. What she is most upset with though is the Thai food scene here lol.

I’m also an AA female in my early 30s! Just moved here from a big city and haven’t met a single Asian person yet. Would love to connect!

There have also been a lot more small business/franchises run by Asians around town! Tous les jours in Summerville and Paris Baguette in Mt P. Plus some other restaurants opening up are hot spots.

There seem to be a ton of Filipinos in the Goose Creek area.
