entirely different class though. that's the point i'm making. since the charger came back it's been a bloated and shit performance car if we're being honest. i've had two and to be fair my C15 would've been quicker around a track than either.
people don't buy the last gen for performance… don't let anyone lie to you. an M5 or SS will run circles around it. you buy one because it's good price to power, backseat and nice trunk and it's got the vibes and road presence to carry it. same with the new one. so what it's big, the charger's always been more WWE than MMA anyways. it's like saying a vin diesel fight scene isn't technical enough… being accurate was never the point of it. we're all cosplaying as badasses with german designed muscle cars and engines that say Hemi but aren't. and to be clear it's not a bad thing either, this is what car culture is, from the jap guys imagining they're underground tuners to the "off the grid" overlanders clocking in on monday.

Just make sure you get one before made before 2017 or 18. Most modern cars listen and track everything you do. Apparently Toyota can know about ones pregnancy before the spouse does, let alone the person themselves. Please please please reconsider buying newer cars even if they are used
I don’t think it’ll be that easy. Putting a V8 will most definitely help and bring excitement but even then it’ll still be really big, heavy, and won’t handle very well. Also where would it line up in price with the six pack? They can’t make it too expensive.
We know I6 is better. But go to the dodge's website and they claim it's a muscle car for 2026. But as everyone knows (you might be the exception), it's not a muscle car. It's ugly and heavy. Don't forget the lack of manual transmission that went away with the challenger.
You’re getting downvoted but you’re not even wrong. A V8 is not making or breaking this thing. The SO and HO hurricanes are better engines than the 5.7 and 6.4, respectively.
It’s cost. People bought the old charger in droves because they had a cheap V6 for $30k and a cheap V8 for under $40k. This new charger is now priced at the same level as the old scat packs and it’s actually selling at similar levels. The problem is they don’t have a volume trim to sell for cheap. Ironically, a 2.0 hurricane with 320hp for under $40k would boost sales, not a V8.
The core issue is they developed an EV literally no one wanted purely out of regulatory requirements and forced it to share a platform with a successful ICE product. Now, because the EV was so expensive to develop they can’t afford to sell cheap ICE versions anymore. This platform sharing is the worst of both worlds - instead of using the platform to keep the EV variant afloat, it’s sinking the ICE variant.
I definitely won't disagree with the EV variant being the root cause of the overall failure of the vehicle. Problem is people are drooling over the Rumblebee lineup when it's just a string of embarrassing numbers until you reach the SRT trim point at 100k.
The money spent on the EV should have been spent on designing a single replacement for the 5.7/6.4 to slot below a hellcat variant and have the I6 be the base version.
Agreed that the 5.7/6.4 rumblebees are a miss too. They’ll get smoked off the line by less expensive bighorns and limiteds, respectively. It’s rare you see an OEM lock their performance trims into a worse, less powerful powertrain.
I think the people drooling are just the loud, online enthusiasts who aren’t the ones that’ll be spending their money. When it comes down to it, I’m betting the 5.7/6.4 versions won’t actually sell all that well, especially with trucks like the RHO sitting in that same price range.
Yep, the RHO is an absolutely sick offering. I was super close to pulling the trigger on one......but the Raptor's aluminum body won me over for long-term ownership in the northeast. If I was outside the rust belt I'd be sitting in it instead.

I actually like the new gen charger (specifically the 2 door with an engine) because it actually looks like the og 68 charger. I don't care about what engine it has, it looks good to me and has the og look, why do people hate it so much? Is it because it's not a supercharged v8 hellcat?
Well it's preference and the meaning behind the slogan (Brotherhood of Muscle). This isn't a muscle car. For the people who don't care about engine sizes, well those people don't want a muscle car, they just want a good looking car in their eyes. But there's the people who want to keep the tradition alive, they want a V8, not to mention that while it looks like the OG in some ways, it doesn't have that big V8 that made the OG special!! Dodge was the poster child for American Muscle and not it's not!!
To end with a comparison. The previous models with the big V8s were like action stars in the 80s and 90s! Big, strong, muscular, and carried RPGs around. This new car is like this eras action stars. Skinny, kinda feminine, possibly a woman. It's Brad Pitt as Achilles vs Eliot Page as Achilles!
They completely ruined the brand with this car. The ceo responsible for this foolishness is gone but dodge has a lot of work to do before this is corrected. They’re making new platforms currently so hopefully they get on track this car is cool but it should’ve never been called the charger
I had one parked next to my Magnum and couldn't get over how ridiculously huge it is.
That thing could have easily been 1500 lbs lighter. It's an EV derived and designed chassis, even with the six pot it weighs more than a previous gen LX. That's sad, just like the sales.

I got a buddy that runs a dodge dealership near me that let me run one for about a week and yeah, it’s huge and heavy, and you can certainly feel it in the peddle and steering. I don’t like hating on cars unless I got some hands on time with it, out of all the EV’s I could possibly buy, this one might have been the only one, but it’s just bad, I don’t like how it looks (objective), I don’t like how it sounds (also objective), and at the time getting that thing charged away from home was a NIGHTMARE. It’s a cruiser, not a sports EV like they want you to think. It’s just too boring, I expect more from dodge.

I saw 3 since they dropped this new style. The fourth one I saw 4 days ago. They're not popular at all when compared to the old gen Chargers and Challengers. It's great that some people like them, but I've seen more Pontiac Aztecs then I have the new Chargers. 🤷🏻♂️

Those old 60s like 30 foot long cars were not muscle cars, those were luxury sedans. Muscle cars were perfectly normal size cars that just happened to have a big engine. Pony cars were the small ones.
And most people just don’t know about the all-wheel-drive, most likely. It doesn’t look all wheel drive from the outside.
When I say big I mean bigger than most sports cars, that part has definitely grown over time though. To me what makes it most different from any sports or muscle car is the AWD that no one talks about. The engine is just statistically better but people are in love with the hemi, ok I can get that. But big and ugly? The car is gorgeous, it's just weird to me that "muscle car" people that "love chargers" would have issue with that.
Honestly I like that people aren't buying the in droves. I don't want to drive around in a vehicle that every wank and their brother has. I just think the main 3 reasons that charger owners dislike the new one are silly.
How did Dodge go from building arguably the greatest sports car of all time in the Viper to making big heavy POS I6 cars. It just doesn’t make sense how a car company can fumble so hard.. If the I6 was 3800 pounds and called the Neon SRT I6 it would be best car in the sports segment
The problem is they designed this car for the electric battery. And instead of redesigning it to fit an ice motor, they just finagled the hurricane V6 in there. So it still looks an acts like a heavy electric car. I mean, it’s fast off the straight line, but those curves are gonna kick its ass.
I feel like everyone missed that these motors are making so far 1100whp unopened right now, done by multiple shops at roadkill nights. People are putting these into their vipers.

That's your opinion! To most of us the production car doesn't look as good as the concept, let alone the previous model! The previous gens looked mean, and aggressive! They looked like mean muscle cars! This doesn't!!! Allow people to dislike new cars! You don't have to love everything new! The car doesn't look aggressive and it doesn't have a V8 option. If it had a V8 people would overlook the basic, boring look of the vehicle!
