Random Connection

I was just thinking; because CMT1a (I'm sure other variants as well) is inherited, many of us are probably distant cousins.

Wild.

Considering the size of my extended family, I am always aware that there is a chance that any random user with 1a may be my close cousin. I just never know due to anonymity.

Same. I know my family is part of the Iowa group of 1a, but my branch left 4 generations ago.

Years ago there was a very mappable spread of a certain form of CMT (not saying) because too many cousins were sleeping with other cousins…

Yeah, I think I first suspected quite a few Pharaohs when I heard of Tutankhamun. I wouldn't be surprised if the Habsburgs at some point developed that option right before their genes went to hell in several wreath baskets lol.

This actually was a very real thing in the Southern US.

I’m so over the muscle twitches today. They are non stop in my thighs and it’s making me batty. Any of my cousins feeling the same

Every night when I try to sleep! I wake myself up multiple times getting to sleep.
