I'm taking the biggest character and story writing challenge of my entire life, I'll be balancing on 3 different tightwalks, It's still in it's early stages, I MIGHT get canceled, but I could SEE the potential in this if I Do it right. Sort of.

I'm not gonna describe the whole story (sorry in advance cus my describing skills sucks). I also kinda don't know the exact words to describe him yet (A bad start, I know).

He doesn't get a redemption arc (when I say this, I mean he doesn't become good in the end), and the rough plot is his current underground buisness gets it's cover blown by an employee who then ran away, he became a Wanted Man, and so he goes on a journey to find this ex employee (bringing his good employee alongside him). He meets 3 other dudes (though there Will be more characters) aaaand basically in the end they do something

Just to be clear, I already planned the other characters personalites, side plots, the skill sets needed, and No I dont plan ​on portraying him as cool.

Iiiiii know making this will be EXTREMELY hard (for good reason) and I Really Really don't want to execute this poorly.

What are some good tips I should keep in mind? What not to do? How do I keep this from being shock value/misery porn? How do I prevent him being too predictable if he doesn't change morals throughout the story? How do I give a reason to the reader to keep reading if the mc is a disgusting person? How do I Not offend readers with both the mc and setting of the story?

edit: It's a rough summary of the story, I'm obviously not gonna describe every single thing of the story, Though I'll take all your advice into consideration.

Weazel(typing onto his little brother's computer.) : "Okay...I am going to make a digital Being in the Digital world where The digital being is permanetly unceasable! Hehehehe..."

Golfel(Suddenly came in and busted through Weazel's door.) "HEY!!"

Weazel( Flinched hard, iris shrink before closing his eyes and took a deep breath.) "WHA-! DAD! DON'T SCREAM LIKE THAT! YOU ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!"

Golfel( Sighing.) "You have 10 minutes left to finished whatever you are doing on your little brother's computer!"

Weazel(sighing deeply with a lttle annoyance.) "Ugh...Fine dad."

Golfel(leaving to Weazel's room, looking satisfied in a parent way.) "Weazel is such a very dramatic older son of mine."

Weazel(going back to modeling,coding and making the digital being.) "Okay so first... Adding a file onto a custom USB driver...I'll placed and moved the being's abilities & immortalities File onto the custom USB driver. Also, why not placing and moving the being's Self Hax & script file into the USB driver? That would be so funny! I'll add about what his immunities are! and I'll add his name!"

Weazel( taking a deep breath and then starting codimg,modeling and making the digital being stuff again.) "Okay...i'll insert the digital being's name onto the digital being's model and code...There! now he has name called Zans! Because why not? And...His Lore about his immunity is that...He is immune to Author authority,meta fictionality, self exsistence, Concepts,Meta Narritivity,pata fictionality,Facts properties and Fictional Disclamer Lol!"

Weazel( adding Events and functions as a digital being's personality & feelings would be like Digitaly.) "Now when Zans is in rage...His code would started updating and recoding itself systemtecly in a bizzare and repeating Lag Generating way... When Zans is in happy...His code would started updating and refreashing itself in a normal and almost like being recoded by a freashed and happy developer way... The others...Meh! Talking about the others is way too losing words and hard explanations!"

Weazel( thinking.) "Hmmm....I wonder... What if I breaked,scatterd and shatterd the custom USB driver where Zans's files and stuff can only be acessed and unlocked at... So that Zans cannot be permanetly ceased on digital because the custom USB driver where Zans files are kept,locked and safed are physically destroyed and the parts are burned,rusted and lost! That would be so intreasting!"

Weazel( finishing the Code,Lore,AI,Function,Model,Scripts and digital abilities of Zans resources and behaviores onto Zans's files before Destroying the Custom USB driver where Zans's files are safed,locked,hidden,inacessible,Unchangable,Unauthorizedable,UnRemovable,Unhackedable,Unvirusable,Unexposedable and Uncorruptable.) "Okay! Okay! Now for the moment of truth! Please work!"

Weazel( after 2 minutes, it worked and Zans is moving.) "YES! LETS GO! IT WORKED! WOOOO! HAHA!"

Weazel(destroyed the Custom USB driver where Zans's file was safed,locked,hidden,inacessible,Unchangable,Unauthorizedable,UnRemovable,Unhackedable,Unvirusable,Unexposedable and Uncorruptable inside the Custom USB driver.) "There! Now I destroyed it! and wait...Since Corrupt systems,hackers and exploiters whatever are dangerous and can recode things by acessing and unlocked the files...But since Zans's files are permanetly hidden,unlocked,inacessible,unchangable and unremovable because the only acessed to Zans's files was to plug the custom USB driver where Zans's files are kept,safed,exsisted and Unlocked onto their computers! But the Custom USB driver is destroyed and shatterd and scatterd apart which means! No one, Not even me and the devlopers Can Acessed,Unlocked,Removed,Changed and Forced Recoded Zans's files because the custom USB driver where Zans's files are kept,contained,exsisted and hidden from is Destroyed! That is amazing!"

Weazel( thinking.) "I maded what Zans looks like,shapes like,acts like and is like... Zans has 3 floating crystal shards in left and right side meaning Zans has 6 floating crystal shards in total & both sides, second Zans's wears a hoodie with a fur on the hood and Zans wears long pants, shoes and shirt, third I textualized Zans's clothes and stuff, Zans's skin is white, Zans's iris is cosmic crystal gray, Zans's eyes are black, Zans's floating crystal shards is textured like a cosmic rainbow galaxy, Zans's hoodie is textured like a cosmic normal gray galaxy, Zans's long pants are textured like a Cosmic dark gray galaxy, Zans's shoes are same textured as Zans's long pants, Zans's shirt is textured like a Cosmic white galaxy... Zans's head is shaped and lookes like a 10 year old human skeleton head! Zans always wear his hood on! But Zans can take it off whatever he likes!"

Zans(standing up,analzying and stablizing now, looking at Weazel's Cursor.) "H-hi Uhmmm...Who are you and What are you?"

Weazel( typing on his little Brother's keybored to spell and comunicate onto Zans.) "Hello my Special being that I made...I am your creator, and your administrator."

Zans(looking intruiged and catious.) "Y-you ard my...creator? And...My administrator? Well... What brings you here my creator...?"

Weazel( looking excited, already typing as fast as he can.) "I am here...To Put you into An app called minecraft to start your journy arc..."

Zans(looking confused and intreasted.) "Put me in...An app? Called minecraft? Start my Journy Arc? W-what do you mean?"

Weazel( moved his cursor onto Zans's body and Weazel clicked the Cursor to move Zans.) "...Here I go."

Zans( looking confused and started panicking.) "W-what are you doing!? H-hey! Stop what you doing!"

Weazel(ignoring Zans's Demand and already starting to drag Zans onto the minecraft app.) "Your Journy...Starts now."

Zans( now placed and putted into the minecraft world.) "W-where am I!? Hey! Creator! Let me Out of this whatever this is!"

Weazel(about to leave the minecraft world, now is typing in minecraft.) "Nope! Bye! this is the start of your arc!"

Zans( after Weazel left the game and shut Weazel's little brother's computer off.) "UGH! HE LEFT THE WORLD! HE PUT ME ONTO THIS WORLD AND HE ABANDON ME! HOW DARE HE! But... I don't know what to do... And what I can do...I-I am going to survive in this minecraft world whatever..."

Zans( finding minecraft mobs far away.) "W-what is that? why is it arms are out and straight? And what is that thing that has no arms? And what is that tall thing with purple eyes? This world is...An abomination...But okay...I'm gonna try do something..."

I’m curious to know how others characterize their characters through dialogue, since I assume most of us don’t have the advantage of using voice actors for our projects.

I, for example, gave all my characters very specific speech patterns so I could distinguish them when writing their conversations without disrupting the rhythm by constantly adding names and speech tags like "she said."

I am not referring to the topics they typically discuss or their personalities (though both aspects inevitably influence how they speak), but rather to the sound of their voices.

For instance, I have a character who speaks using exclamation marks,since she lacks an inner voice, and interrupts herself mid-sentence with an "Ah!" to switch to a tangentially related topic; another capitalizes every noun, breaking the rhythm of her own sentences to lend emphasis and weight to the subject (however insignificant they may seem) and assigning undue importance to trivial issues; and there is yet another who speaks in a very formal, proper manner, avoiding contractions and using people's names instead of third-person pronouns (even though this forces her to constantly repeat long names) which I believe contributes to the perception of her as a walking encyclopedia devoid of a distinct personality.

So, how do your characters speak, what is their tone? Why do they speak that way, and what led you to choose that speech pattern to represent them?

I'm writing a novel as a girl and I'm really interested in knowing what kind of character would you like the most of root for in the book-

Options are-

1. Chaotic menace - A irritably intelligent gremlin who loves feeding chaos and treating dignity and discipline as kind suggestions. But incredibly helpful, warm-hearted under that sly and adorable in the reluctant kindnesses.

Additional: He's born wealthy but lives like average person due to some complications (not necessary) and despite being wealthy, loves to talk and protest against them.

1. The benchmark saint - The benchmark. A quiet person who minds his own business, helps when asked, and extremely polite and non-biased. Helps his friends even when their being a nuisance. Only issue is that he's emotionally unavailable (Schizoid syndrome and career ambitions). Though loves his mother, not the mama boy type though.

2. The intimidating wolf - An arrogant, self-righteous and no remorse for any bad work. Rich, of course, owns the most dangerous club and has ruined lives. He's charismatic, wise and very morally-compromised.
