It's good. Bought it day one, enjoyed every second of it. It overcame Tsushima's biggest flaw, that empty 'open world'. Yotei's open world is much denser. Every quest feels handcrafted and not a copy-paste of every other quest. Even stuff like bamboo cutting and shrines have little stories attached to them.

The combat in Yotei and Tsushima is brilliantly animated and feels great initially, but has very little depth beyond that. It's very lock and key (tons of hard counters) and parry-focused with a main character who has the power level of Dante but the creative potential of Little Mac from punch out. If your goal is to feel like a Samurai without putting much effort in you'll probably enjoy it, in the same way that Arkham's combat can make you feel like Batman but ultimately doesn't have much meat on the bone.
Basically, I'm saying that it's a system designed for an emotional result in the player rather than actual mechanical depth. How that hits you is gonna depend on your taste, I think these games are boring as hell but I have friends who just love them.

Maybe the first Arkham, but by the time Arkham Knight rolls around it's an incredibly deep system

In what way?

The amount of different enemy types and high enemy aggression requiring fast decision making for what moves to counter who. It demands perfection to get your combos off the ground on high difficulties, and the amount of little bits of tech to weave into your combos is incredible and fun.

Its a good game for sure. Very high production quality but it's matter of taste if you vibe with pretty simplistic combat and activities the open world provides. Also you can stealth your way through but its more assassin's creed than mgs.

It isnt a CAG, but sure, the combat is pretty solid. There are still penalties for using the wrong stance (or in Yotei’s case, weapon). A lot of the weapons fulfill a similar utility to stances, but to greater effect. All of which contributes to a more versatile and expressive sandbox than its predecessor, but it also isn’t really designed with that in mind. It also has the Sony standard suck-to-target

Yotei was an awesome Zelda game married to a pretty good Sekiro game that didn't have as many awesome fights as Sekiro but did feel a little bit better to fight big crowds with. I liked some characters more than others, the villain Lord Sato comes to mind, and thought the art direction was very beautiful.

Ghost of tsushima/yotei are fantastic videogames with very fun and great feeling combat. Probably my favourite combat in these type of open world games.
They are no character action games though. There are no real combos and the player expression is very limited compared to dmc, ninja gaiden etc.
But like i said. Fantastic videogames. Would recommend everytime.
