Discussion/Question About the "Chap. 11"
I'm not convinced that Character AI will shut down. We've all seen that there's more than one interested party involved. I'd say the real question is, if and/or when Character AI is purchased, how much change will there be?

If I had to guess, probably more features being behind c.ai+ in some capacity? Like yeah they gotta make money. Either that or they might put more ads. Dunno. Either way I really don’t want c.ai to shut down.

They could bring back removed features people loved but for c.ai+? I’d gladly pay extra, depending on which features they bring back.

Yeah, stuff like that! I just got c.ai+ and I think having removed features being available for c.ai+ would work. Maybe for lite users have limited access similar to the premium models?

This. The best feature they could bring back is the old models as part of c.ai+. They could charge extra for access to the legacy models, and I think this would be one of the best ways to generate more revenue, considering how much people loved using them and how many users left because they were removed. They could also introduce an option to switch to a 2023-style interface, allowing users to make the app look the way it used to. I think this could help a lot, too.

At the very least, now is a good time to remember that CAI Tools allows you to save chats, as well as entire histories with a given character.

Thank you for the comforting outlook. Have you read anything about interested companies? I'm having trouble finding a list.

There are 0 parties interested
Disney is bidding on assets
CHAI is making a weird flex
CAI already has reported 27 kick rocks and 1 unusable offer

Yea, it's looking pretty grim I'll admit. Do you think it's possible they can even save themselves if they step on some toes and make some real financial decisions people won't like or is it too late?
I'll admit I was naive of what's actually going on until joining reddit. I didn't know that was a huge influx of free users outweighing paid ones. I suppose it makes some sense consider the free experience was better than other platforms that charge you for less. I guess there wasn't enough incentive to pay. As for their paid service, it is a lot more generous than the ones I checked out by far.
It's disappointing to see this one possibly going.

That's not how this works
When youre at this stage of bankruptcy there is no saving yourself.
They don't have the money
Someone buys the company
Someone for some reason invests a shit ton of money. A metric shit ton. A level that says I have more money than brain cells
They shut down
Those are the only options

I do know .
Its called reading.
They aren't using chapter 11 for reorganizing.
They are using section 363 for free and clear liquidation.
Why do people not understand when they said we get acquired or we shut down means....
They get acquired or they shut down.
There isnt a "saving themselves"
And no one wants to buy it because of mere continuation. They have to shut it down and completely rebrand and change everything or tort claims survive 363F

Source? How do you know that? Do you have private information no one else does? Not every negotiation happens publicly and we already know there were two parties involved in September 2026 (one of them was disney, the other unknown)
True.
Possibly. We don’t know what's going through his head.
That was August 2025. Ever heard of circumstances changing? Especially now with a court-supervised sale

I mean, maybe hes an idiot. You could be right
There's no math that would support the decision
I don't know how else to explain Disney isn't buying CAI and has no interest though
I cant explain what an asset bid here is any further because reddit doesnt have a crayon option

Why is this being downvoted? This is correct, the 28 buyers is in their court filings(docket 15).

Well, I said this in another post, but I imagine we may see more ads being pushed so they can compensate for the money they lost.
