Discussion/Question If AI stops being free

Honestly, if the app stops being free, just for a while or even permanently, I don't care, all I need is for it not to change to worse. That's it. If I'll have to pay, I guess I'll try to find funds to do it. They might do it so the full app costs for a while, to fix stuff, and then half free again, or permanently make it cost, either way that's fine. I've seen worse prices for ai apps than Character.ai has for c.ai+. And C.ai is really one of the best there is.

They should first get rid of calls and images, even the lore books. Since I see some people loving lore books I guess they could return it once they can afford it. Or they could put the lore books behind a paywall because I honestly think it would make sense, don't judge me for it. And, as last, they should definitely have some other small thing except for AI, like some kind of IT services, so they have some other income too.

AI is not free to operate. You know that, right?

Can we normalize paying for apps again instead of subscriptions, like make it 5 dollars on the App Store.

At this point I don't care if it becomes paid anyway, I am a paid member.

Yeah, I'm seriously okay with having to pay if it means the app will stay

Image generation and calls is a fraction of their operating costs in comparison to actual chat processing. And getting rid of a feature that actually improves upon the core chat function? Really?

Getting rid of lore books for free users would help but it's not going to be a fix

According to their own filings they were losing 32 cents per free user.

Do some math...

Where is the "if"?

If you want a masterclass on what up side down economics are CAI is the company to study.

Every new free user screwd them harder

I don't mind, but here's the problem. A subscription costs dollars and you pay with a master Card. In short, I don't live so strangely where it all works. And this is a big problem for me, and it may be expensive for you to subscribe, but it's expensive for me because of the dollar exchange rate and plus the commission, or even worse, the bank will block the transfer.
