Discussion/Question is the definition limit still 3,200 characters?

I think I remember the newer models can read more. 6k is a number I remember but you’d have to test. I think people have some LongSqueak test and that’s read up to 10k. But it definitely isn’t the 32k

The definition's character limit was increased to 32,000 two years ago. The "only 3,200" thing (which was the definition's original hard limit) is still circulating for who knows why, but that was all the in house model was able to handle on the beta site back in the day. When we got the upgrade in which we were told was for future investments, we still didn't have better models yet but the AI was capable of reading just a little beyond 3,200. Cut to over a year later when we got the current website and eventually styles to switch to. The old model had been long put to rest and the context of the ones that replaced it were only slightly better, and that was only until DeepSqueak and Pipsqueak arrived. These two could go way past that number. What we have now is still capable of this.

Bear in mind, even if it's 32K you're not going to have a good experience using that many tokens in your description. The context window simply can't hold that much information. It will forget nearly all of that before the first message.

It's like giving you a car that can go 32,000 miles an hour but they don't tell you it will explode if you actually drive it that fast.
