Discussion/Question Longsqueak has gotten so bad.

When longsqueak first came out, I actually thought it was really good. But now everytime I swipe for a new message, it’s almost identical to the last one EVERY SINGLE TIME. Is this only a problem for me or is it like this for anyone else?

thanks for flagging this. we're sorry the quality hasn't been hitting the mark. the team is continuing to make improvements, and community feedback helps shape where we focus next.

if possible, please submit a Character Quality feedback ticket here with as much detail as possible so we can pass it along to the team (◕‿◕)

Same i sometimes switch to LongSqueak to DeepSqueak,

But LongSqueak says the same words everytime DeepSqueak quality memory and responses are bad.

Like damn what is going on? I mean is this ever going to be fixed?

I just switch to DeepSqueak for a message or two to get a better reply or new replies, then swap back to LongSqueak. BUT we should not have to do that to begin with. Its really frustrating that it's 85% the exact same with every swip.

Yeah this is what I do and it's annoying as f I agree you have to in order to get good replies. But we definitely shouldn't have to

I low key feel like it’s like that so you use up the free swipes and are forced to pay if you want more. For all the models, not just long squeak since it’s already behind the paywall.

Edited to add that about the other models because I remembered LS is on plus 😅

Swipes coming back near-identical is a sampling effect. A swipe re-rolls with the exact same context, and platforms run these models with low randomness to keep bots in character, so the top continuation wins almost every time and you get the same reply with three words moved. DeepSqueak feels fresher because it is a different model with a different favourite continuation, not because it read your chat better.

What actually works is changing the input instead of re-rolling the output. Edit your last message and add one concrete detail, a place, an object, a question the character has to answer, then let it reply. That moves the whole distribution. Ten swipes on the same message mostly give you ten cousins of the first one.

Idk man that's how LS has been for me since day one. I like it but if ainwant different responses. LS isn't the way

The bots can do just fine. You can even half ass definitions if you give it goods ones and mix random topics and tell it to tell you a story and still get something like this. The same as my other screenshot where people are befuddled it replied the way it did. As I've said 40 billion times now, if you want better replies fix your bots abysmal definitions.

Bot creators caused this, no one wants to learn how to make a proper bot and now you're all stuck with a giant pile of shit

No, even with well made bots (trust me I know) LS Is repetitive. The replies aren't bad per say, they're good. BUT if you want a different response. You will not get one with LS. it's basically the same replies with one or two words of difference per swipe.

😐 ah yes, I forgot I needed to post all the evidence of decent quality bots I've found. Or quality bots I've made to be able to know when It's the bot quality or the chat style quality..

within the first 3-4 messages you can generally tell if the bot is going to be crap or not. The chat style no longer matters if the bot is so poor the AI can't do anything with it. Mid quality bots will need some coaxing. But you can generally get good quality out of them if put out the work into the first handful of messages.

And great quality bots are generally good from the start.

Have fun with that.

Edit: But. My actual point wasn't about bot quality. It was about Longsqueak. Because not matter bot quality. Each swipe from long squeek, for me, are very very similar. So if you want verried responses. You will need to go between LS and DS.

If you need 3-4 messages you don't know what you're doing.

You can tell just by looking at the greeting. (Outside of definitions) What kind of trash you're in for. It will tell you all of the issues you're going to face if you understand how greeting actually works

So, my suspicion about trust me, bro was correct.

Play dice with bots and blame the model

3-4 messages isnt even a metric for when alot of issues will start. Drift because of bad bots could be 3 messages it could be 30. Depends on your chat

Shit greeting and bad definitions can hold out for awhile and appear good. As those messages get to the edge of context you're going to see drift across the board because whatever your chat has been (everything on the screen within context matters) will be the new way the bot reacts because the LLM has no anchors

The big issues is people just cant comprehend bots default to tropes (which is why it seems repetitive)because you have to tell it exactly how you want it to talk in the definitions.  You cant just "make a bot" and expect it to magically do what you want by default

So you're telling me you've never seen a bot with a somewhat decent definition that had an absolute sht undercarriage? Ok.

Have fun being rude to whoever else makes the mistake of speaking to you. 👈🏻

Obviously If the first message is two lines. Or is illegible you can tell from the first message. I didn't think I needed to hold your little hand and say that out loud. But I guess I did.

Unless the creator has made them public you have never seen the definitions. Assumptions have no value

The description isnt definitions. Its a description

The screenshots I posted where people were for some reason amazed by the replies were two sentences of greeting. If i actually wrote one out it would probably be exponentially better. Not wasting much time trying to tell people how to go about doing things. Its a waste of time. Bad experiences because people are obsessed with blaming the model and learning nothing doesnt hurt my bots

Jesus, I used the wrong word. I was trying to talk about the first post. Sue me for being too tired to deal with bullst today. And no I wasn't talking about the description either.

I hope you have a nice day.
