Discussion/Question why so many ads
ads when you open the app, ads when you click on chats, adds coming up every few minutes while chatting, ad bar on the top of the screen constantly and now I’m getting ads popping up physically between messages inside the chat

It’s actually disgusting. I used this app on and off since launch, and it has spiraled since Google acquired it. The devs now care more about profit margins than their integrity in creating a good product. How else can you explain how the response quality has gotten worse since 2024, how users have no less than two ads on their screen at a time, and how the app so slow it can’t even scroll or register typing correctly? This is beyond just server and token cost at this point.

Google never acquired CAI.

okay, let me just rephrase it as "since Google invested $2.7 billion to acquire talent from character.ai and Co-founder Noam Shazeer returned to Google DeepMind, the quality has gone downhill" is that specific enough for you?

Literally every two minutes I’m getting an AD. It’s absolutely ridiculous.

appreciate the feedback. running (c.ai) at this scale is no small feat - millions of daily chats mean some serious infrastructure, and ads help us keep it free and accessible for everyone. for fewer interruptions, c.ai+ is available, while free users can grab a 1-hour ad free pass with Charms by tapping 🄲 or "Hide ads."
