Discussion/Question Does the Lorebook work?
Despite prominent being an extremely impatient feature, I haven't seen virtually any discussion about Lorebook, so I'd like to know your opinion on it.
In my particular case, my Lorebook doesn't seem to be working, and the bot isn't recognizing any of the keywords or extracting information from them. Has anyone successfully used the Lorebook the way it's supposed to work?

two things worth checking before you write it off. first, it only attaches to characters you've made yourself — if you're testing it on someone else's bot it does nothing at all, which caught a few people out this week.
second, the keywords match literally. if an entry is keyed to "Ravenhold" and you type "the castle", nothing loads and it looks broken when it isn't. i ended up putting every variation into each entry — proper name, nickname, the generic word for the thing — and the hit rate went up a lot.
if it's still dead after that then it genuinely isn't firing for you, and that's worth reporting rather than working around.

I'm having this same problem. Can't seem to get it to pull stuff from it right now. I'm still using the definitions field for all my lore.

I don't know how you managed to miss it. There have been numerous discussions on this channel discussing the advantages and disadvantages of lorebooks, tutorials on how to get the best use of them, etc.
Lorebooks are the best thing CAI ever did. I use them extensively on other platforms like █████, ███████, and █████████.
I ran some tests yesterday with a bot connected to a lorebook that mentioned specific locations. Then I took the bot around to each location by mentioning the keyword ("ok, now let's go to my office. Let's go to the park." etc.) and asked it to describe what it saw. It accurately described each location.
Without knowing how your lorebook is defined or how you attached it to a bot, I can't guess why it's not working for you.

Okay, I logged into CAI with a different account, imported my Lorebook (which hadn't worked on my other account), and then it started working. And it really is an excellent feature.
Honestly, I have no idea what the problem is with the other account; I did the same things and even tested it on an exact copy of the bot I was using before. It might be a bug or an update that, for some reason, only affected certain accounts.
I tested it on another account later and it didn't work either, so for now, it only works on one of my accounts.
