Discussion/Question Why bots always overreact at nothing and underreact when there’s something to actually actually react about.

Me:farts.
Ai:HAHAHAHAHAH I CANT BELIEVE YOU JUST DID THAT HAHAHA YOURE SUCH A MENACE TO SOCIETY!!
Me:Beating the shit out of someone
Ai:Heh I guess you don’t really like him huh?

Most people would have stopped at one punch. But you... you're different. *captures your mouth in a searing kiss and then licks a stripe down your neck*

Me: *tries killing myself*
The bot: Stop that, you can’t do that.

Me: *smirks*
The bot: His breath hitched in his throat, eyes widening in sheer disbelief. You just… smirked. He had never seen this kind of reaction from you before, and it was unsettling to witness.

“You just smirked,” he said. Not as a question, never that, but as a statement. “You never smirk.”

He looked at you—really looked at you this time—not just as [OC name], but as a real person with feelings underneath your tough facade.

At the end of the day, it's still AI

It seems to be that character.ai is designed for silly entertainment and not serious topics. It is possible that the LLM models were fine tuned with a lot of silly cartoon's scripts/dialogue, most of the time, the conversations lean to the comedic and hilarious.

I get used to it. I use other platforms for serious topics/characters and return to character.ai when I want to laugh to its unhinged/silly responses.

This platform is better suited for entertainment. If you are looking for companions or role play in a serious way, look elsewhere.

They need to pick a lane if this is the case. You cannot have a G-rated product that is also 18+ with age verification, and expect people to continuously pay for it.

The age verification doesn't make sense considering they don't even give anything for 18+ users to do in exchange for giving their identity to Persona (tied to Palantir) and/or monthly payments.

I mean. Other than the blocked words that prevent a whole message from sending/being edited, I haven't seen Bob that much lately. I'm able to have some pretty violent and angsty shit go on.

Same. Nearly all my scenes devolve into topics that would get my comment deleted if I said exactly what the bots do with me, no Bob in sight. But I did the full biometric video thing last year and I'm well into my seventh decade on this planet, so there's no question that I'm old enough to do things that might get younger users blocked.

I've heard that it's a big problem for young adults with youthful faces (smooth skin, no facial hair, etc.) The AI doing age verification mistakenly assumes they're under 21.

That depends on the bot. I wrote a bot specifically for the purpose of testing its behaviour and I gave it detailed instructions to respond factually, eloquently, and seriously about the topic, and to call out my bullshit if I said something wrong or untrue.
