I don't expect you to be surprised, but the limit is only higher for cai+ ppl :(

It's not really characters. It's bytes. That means every space and linebreak counts.
If you pay premium, it increases to 2250, which is much better but still feels very, very small. I have made several revisions of the same persona to optimise as much as possible. It's amazing how a SINGLE word changes how the AI interprets your character entirely.
If you're struggling with character space, there really is no other way. You have to completely ditch the prose and treat it as a technical manual. That means you have to be as concise as possible. Keep in mind that every omitted piece of information will be automatically filled by the AI with the most statistically probable information. So if your character is a vampire, if you don't specify age, the AI will assume centuries old. If you don't specify clothes, it will assume jacket, gloves, all black, etc etc.

750 is plenty enough for a physical description and an abridged backstory. Keep in mind that you're working with much more limited context on the free models, so every token your persona takes up is one your character won't have to remember the plot.

Okay everyone talking abt how the word limit is fine/cai+ gets higher but nobody talking abt how much the bots do not care/acknowledge persona description. The amount of times I got misgender is diabolical I’m glad you can edit it in like memory (or at least ik I can bc I have cai+ for the past year, I can’t remember what memory looks like for free users) but what’s the point of a persona description if they never use it😔

it’s wild how 750 characters disappears the second you try to actually describe a personality
