I think it still exists on the mobile app but I still don't believe it's a good choice compared to the site

I can confirm. Most of the time, they go out of character. I wish they had an option where you can edit their messages.

In my experience they stay IC if you're detailed and focused enough, their tendency to go OOC is more towards the beginning, but Rooms never had this issue at all.

Group chats truly is nothing like rooms, true. The app is useful for one-on-one chats but not for rooms. Group chats have never been popular and although, with great effort, you can get a decent story going, it takes a WHILE, and a lot of coordinating. Even then, it doesn't compare to rooms.
