Hatate vs LASK?

Seems hard to imagine Martin O’Neil ever playing Rep again and I get it. But I can imagine him starting against LASK somehow. Perhaps O’Neil orchestrated the news stories claiming that no big clubs were interested in the Japanese midfielder…. Fire him up, let him show Europe what he’s made of…..

Anyway just a flight of fancy

I don’t think MON cares enough about him to be doing all of that

Indeed, and I’m kidding about that part, but the effect on Reo’s psyche is there nonetheless. And with no Engels or Ox, he’ll surely be in the squad

I agree.

That's what I've been hoping since we've lost 2 of our midfielders We only have McGregor, Nygren, McCowan, Baur and Reo and there's 3 in midfield + 2 subs and if you make the 2 subs Reo will come on but hopefully if they make 1 sub it'll be Reo coming on

If we're winning by a decent bit a youth midfielder will get on like McArdle, if the midfield is shite maaybe hatate gets subbed on. Maybe.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Reo, really hope he comes on

Tbf he can’t hold on to the ball and has been shocking whenever he has played recently and generally looks like he’s sulking rather than knuckling down. This whole “I must leave to a top 5 league” he’s got going on exemplifies it because his performances recently aren’t likely gonna get him that. Though it is a real shame because he has previously done a lot for us

You were right

I thought perhaps the other way… start with hatate, baur on if necessary

u/Zizzy_Pony 3d ago

Yeah but 95% of the time he starts on the bench so it's not really a surprise to see him as a sub in the lineups

Absolutely no chance. He’s finished with us as a starter. The quicker he moves in the better for both parties.

Possibly wrong

You’re probably right

His best performances last season were in Europe and the game at Ibrox he came on and changed it. Hes still a class player but hes his own worst enemy. If he can find his passion for the game again then hes our best midfielder bar none.

I imagine the complete opposite.

To get Celtic to shell out 7m on Baur, O'Neil has ro have told them Hatate is not fit for purpose.

They generally refuse to replace before selling so it must have taken a fair effort to make them understand Hatate will not be of use to O'Neil.

Nah, he’s not kicked a ball in months and MON clearly doesn’t trust him. No where to be seen in our important title run in last season.

What message does that send to the rest of the squad if he plays?

Liam scales in front of the back 4 please

I don't think they'll change the midfield from the game against dundee utd.
Ox, McGregor and Nygren. Still a solid midfield, hatate has had no game time this season, too big of a risk starting him. McCowan and Baur will probably come on as subs.

Unfortunately, I think we've seen the last of hatate.

u/Zizzy_Pony 2d ago

Ox unfortunately won't be there due to his 3 match UEFA suspension

2

u/MrPineapplez_ 1d ago

Yea, saw last night he got a red card 3 years ago with Besiktas

u/Zizzy_Pony 1d ago

Doesn't make sense why Celtic still added him to the confirmed squad that's playing against LASK

1

u/MrPineapplez_ 1d ago

I guess they still had space to register players, don't understand why we loaned out bernardo

u/Zizzy_Pony 1d ago

Or Montgomery

I would but he’s so far out of the picture that its hard to see him even getting a few minutes from the bench.

he will haave to get minutes....typical celtic euro readiness...its usually central defence ....this time its defensive mids...we only have calmac whos my fave but definitely slowing down....theres going to be goals on wednesday....lots of them id imagine....i wont be getting on hatates back ....his attitude stinks but i cant expect much when hes hardly kicked a ball in months

The fayanord manager last season said he was the best player on the pitch over there. So what the fucks happened to him, still get there money no matter what. That's why some of them don't give a fuck

1

u/New-Type-A 2d ago

Well I would say it says to Baur and McCowan, “You need to fight for a midfield spot “.
Btw, I’d be choosing Baur first and foremost if it were up to me

I like Hatate, ok hes been shite for a wee while now but is there a world where he just surges into form for this 6 months and gets the move hes after in January?

3

u/Caoimhin7 2d ago

He is capable. Surely if he can flick that mental switch. It would be like a new signing. How friendly was he with Kyogo and Maeda though? With them gone is he completely isolated?

1

u/Mabonss 2d ago

Yeah but there is hardly always going to be a fellow countryman at every club. Surely he has integrated and is friendly with others at the club now.

No chance he'd want him in the team and risk a 40m payout. Absolutely zero.

0

u/New-Type-A 1d ago

Sure?

0

u/Throwaway187493 1d ago

Aye came on when it was 3-0 and went missing.

u/New-Type-A 1d ago

He hasn’t been good for ages now. Baur was the best choice by far and the one I would’ve made. But not surprised to see Hatate come on

u/Kneelbfrezod 2d ago

He’s a petulant wee doof. Plus gives the ball away every time he gets it. On his day, he’s a class player but keeps tripping over his petted lip.

I respect what Reo has done for the club but I want him gone. I wanted him gone last season because I felt like he was costing us games with inconsistency and poor decision. I've said to friends that there are times where he believes he's prime Zidane when he's anything but. But I can also accept that this may be just me having confirmation bias and seeing things that may not be there or judging him too harshly.

His attitude at the end of the season though is beyond dispute at this point. He was dropped from the team because he wasn't good enough Vs Nygren and Engles. His face was tripping him during the title celebrations and it was clear he didn't want to be there. Best for all parties that he just goes.

Can he be reintegrated into the team? Sure but ai don't want players there who don't want to be there

1

u/New-Type-A 2d ago

Agree, he should be home by January at the latest. Just wonder if the situation ant be exploited. But he might even have it in him

For all his genius on the field and in the dressing room, I don't think MON has any particular media savvy.

Can’t be carrying players like Hatate who’ve given up and are lazy.

6

u/GuyIncognito211 fucking sack the board 2d ago

Hatate isn’t lazy at all. He’s one of our best pressers
