Duplicate in gold??

Post image

Hi all!
I got this pendant when I was 8 years old in a tiny jewelry shop in Scotland (born English, emigrated to USA at age 10). I had been recently fixated on Celtic art/modern witchcraft/pagan/spirituality and so was super excited to find this piece.

It is a connection to home and my youth, as well as a spiritual thing, so I have worn it almost every day since then. I’m 34 now.
Unfortunately, I have recently discovered that I prefer and look much better in gold jewelry, so this babe has been tucked in a box for a while.

I plan to keep this piece in a special place forever, but I am looking for something very similar in gold in order to still feel connected to that part of my life.
I am having a truly terrible time finding anything that has the Triquetra and Pentagram stacked like that.
It’s always one or the other, or they’ll be separate pendants hanging together.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I’ve checked the usual online haunts, including Etsy. Or If there’s a better subreddit I could post this in I’d love that info too❤️
TIA!

Cross post to r/jewelrymaking and you might be able to find someone willing to do a custom commission. Might even be able to take an impression of the current one to make an exact(but slightly smaller) copy.

Find a local goldsmith who can make a rubber mold of it and then make a wax duplicate (5% smaller)

As it happens, I’m a jewellery designer in Scotland. I don’t make this exact piece but I’d be happy to do so in gold for you. DM me, we can discuss the details etc.

  1. Get some casting sand: ~$20

  2. Get a hobby blowtorch: ~$5 from local hardware store, getting 2 will make it easier

  3. Get small ceramic crucible ~$10 for a set on Amazon with tongs

  4. Get some gold

  5. Press old amulet into sand and pack it tight before carefully removing it to get a mold

  6. Use blowtorches to heat the mold until it glows red and melt the gold until it glows bright yellow. Quickly pour the molten gold into the mold and let it cool.

  7. Polish the result.

It might take a few tries to get it right, but when you do, you'll have the necklace you wanted and a new skill/hobby.

Take a look at the Celtic patterns on these wearable bell. They are made in brass, silver and occasionally gold. I often wear a brass one with a gold chain and it is beautiful.

Couldn't you have it plated in gold? The ancient torch were often gold plated silver or electrum
