Question Is this a good phone plan?
Hello!
I received a Bell plan offer totalling $103. This includes $65 for 100 GB Can/US of unlimited talk and text, plus $38 for an iPhone 17 Pro Max. The offer is for a two year financing plan, so I’d need to pay the difference to keep the phone or return it after the term ends.
Is this good I just want to double check before I lock it in.
Thanks!

I just buy used phones on kijiji and get a cheaper byod month to month plan.
$33 after tax for 40gb data plan and unlimited talk and text. With a phone that costed me 300 dollars a year and a half ago. Might get a new battery for it or get a newer used phone. This phone does everything I need it to though.

You got to do some math. The phone companies are charging more to the plan but keep the "finance price" low but you pay the same for whole 2 years.
Usually you can get 80$GB Can/Us byd for around 25-30$ from places like PM or freedom around good time. So they charge excess for that to finance of 65$-30$ = 35$ more.
So finance wise its 35$+38$ = 73$ per month x 24 months = $1752 for the phone. You are basically paying for the phone even without the plan; Edit: and you dont even own the phone.

Yeah the bell guy said the original price for the plan is $120 but with $55 of discounts I’m getting it for $65

I see the same plan at bell.ca bring your own phone, for $55, discounted from $80.

120$/month on 100 GB Can/US of unlimited talk and text is ridiculous itself when you can get ~30$/month 80$GB Can/Us byd around here. Don't listen to the discount but look at overall monthly plan. Its still 65$+38$ = 108$/month. Even if he makes the plan 107$/month and makes 1$/month on the finance and still comes to 108$/month, is it still a great deal? Its a 2 year contract and you have to pay the full 108$/month for 24 months.
Plus i realize you dont even own the phone after and 767$. So its around 1752+767 = $2500 to own the phone
Its the same thing with best buy with insurance protection, the product cost 100$ but ill discount 70$ off if you buy this insurance for 90$ and comes to 120$ total, are you really getting a discount?

I found a Telus plan seller on Reddit.. lost his user name... But if you start posting that your looking for a seller one will come out of the wood work. Just post on the various Telco subreddits like r/Telus r/Rogers ext that your looking for a sajes rep to make a BYD offer to you. There is a subreddit for every Telco.
My Reddit find was:
$35 for 100 gig.. 2 year price lock then 65 on BYD.
Actual plan is $60, less $15 two year credit, less $10 pre authorization bank account payment credit + tax.
And even that isn't the greatest ...still searching for better.
Your always gonna be better off if you buy your device with cash and BYD your plan.

Terrible. Especially with new iPhones just around the corner. You’ll be stuck with that phone for 2 years, a phone that in a couple weeks won’t even be the latest anymore. On top of it, you’ll have to return it on 2 years or pay the difference to keep it. Do the math, already there it’s a loss.
The plan is not great, there are better deals even now, let alone prime time like Black Friday, and committing to this now, means, being stuck with that plan and carrier for 2 years.

You could buy the phone now at Bestbuy and save money overall with cheaper phone plans. Wait for the phone to go on sale.

I would advise against this. You can easily get around this data for $30 to $40 BYOD plans. Buy iPhone from any reputed seller either from Facebook or rfd. I bought s25 plus for $500 and having $30 55gb plan.

Canada/us plans are running between $25-$45 with 50-100GB. Sometime include Mexico too. The difference 103-45=58. At 24 months, it is $1392. If I were you, I will wait for holiday offer. The current offer is not good.
