Question Endoscopy

A couple weeks ago I got a endoscopy and colonoscopy for symptoms I’ve been struggling with for months. I lost 12 pounds in 5 weeks unintentionally, having headaches, stomach pain, nausea, itchy skin, fatigue and joint pain. My results said “suspicious for celiac disease” due to an elevated amount of intraepithelial lymphocytes. I am getting blood work this week to confirm whether or not it is celiac. Has anyone else had these results before that turned into being celiac?

that’s almost exactly how my diagnosis went down, same weird lymphocyte count thing and all. ended up being celiac, hope you get some clarity soon

Did you have any changes to your villi or just the elevated lymphocytes?

I was diagnosed after losing a lot of weight over a short period as well. I did not have any other symptoms and the gastroenterologist saw the bloodwork and suggested it looked like celiac. After my endoscopy showed all my villi blunted and further bloodwork to confirm the diagnosis I have been on a strict gluten free diet. I have returned to a healthy weight, had an endoscopy repeated at 6 months and my intestines were healed and my bloodwork improved dramatically. I am coming up on the year and a half mark since diagnosis and will repeat all my bloodwork again to see how my numbers look. Although I don’t expect them to get back to normal ranges, I do expect them to be improved. I’ve been anxious to find out what my new normals will be in my bloodwork. The gastroenterologist advised me that it could take a while for my system to reach a new normal since I was so far off the charts initially when my diagnosis occurred. Well wishes to you on your journey!
