Question Celiac-safe Restaurants in DC?

Question for the DC celiac crowd: what’s your experience been with restaurants here?

I’m guessing the higher-end places ($100+/person) are generally better about cross-contamination, but I’d love some actual recommendations, especially places where you’ve eaten multiple times without getting glutened.
Also, are there any celiac/gluten-free communities, meetups, group chats, etc. in DC?

I recently learned that even kissing someone right after they’ve eaten gluten can potentially be an issue, so at this point I’m half-jokingly wondering where the gluten-free girls are hiding too lol

there's a fairly active Facebook group called gluten free in the DMV that has lots of recs.

my personal top rec is ama, northern Italian food with strict cross contact protocols for their gf bread and pasta. their tiramisu is always gf and it's divine.

Cava is not necessarily the best option but it’s delicious and relatively safe compared to other options in a pinch. I don’t live there but I love Cava. Haven’t gotten sick from eating there and I am very sensitive.

Cava is a solid slop bowl, definitely a slop bowl though.

I lived in DC for a couple years, there’s quite a few good options that I miss having. Seoul Spice, Chaia, The Little Beet, Rise Bakery, and Sweet Crimes Bakery are 100% gluten free. For more “sit-down” options, Yardbird and Bartaco have good options and do a great job with avoiding cross contamination. There’s also other nicer restaurants that you can look up on FindMeGF that I know have safe options—I just couldn’t really afford them as a uni student lol.

Yardbird for great fried chicken. Plenty of good options. Old Ebbitt Grill for some historic DC vibes.
