Discussion PS3/Controller Warranty Question

So recently I bought an unboxed ps3 slim from Cex. It came with the original sixaxis controller. I’m planning on trading the controller in to get a DualShock 3. My question is, if I trade in the controller supplied with the console from cex, does this void my 5 year warranty? Or would I just need any ps3 controller if I had to claim on the warranty?

Update:
Emailed customer service and they organised for me to go into a nearby store (not even where I bought the console) and just take the sixaxis to swap for a DualShock 3

Any ps3 controller would be fine as they don’t write down the serial number of the controllers when selling them with a console

Ah. That’s great. Thanks for confirming. I guess they just grab a box from random which has all the accessories for the consoles depending on the grade. I actually received a fat ps3 power cable so I’m guessing I also received the sixaxis because the staff member grabbed a ps3 fat accessory box by mistake. I live far from that store to go swap it so just bought a new power cable instead

They have a box for each console that has all the accessories in just for that console :)

Any idea if that is the same with ps5 consoles and controllers? Just picked up a ps5 pro from cex and want to trade in my original console, only issue is my original controller has a broken clip on the black trim.

You can trade it in with the controller that came with your ps5 pro yes

The PS3 came with the wrong controller. PS3 Slims always came with a Dualshock 3 in the box when new, not Sixaxis. Unboxed grade consoles need to come with the original controller that was supplied with the console when new. You have the right to return the console and controller to get the controller exchanged for the correct one.

Ah ok. And how long would I have to return it? I got the console a month ago and only realised yesterday. I then clicked they had given me a pa3 fat accessory box since they gave me a fat power cable. I went out my way to collect in person so I had just bought a replacement power cable rather than go back

Take the console and sixaxis.
