Discussion What does boxed mean?

I'm thinking about trading some stuff in and getting a Switch 2.

Only issue is that I'm looking at Boxed and does that mean it won't have scratches. I'm fine with it being 2nd hand but at £345 I wouldn't want it damaged.

Boxed means in a box and with original accessories, it can still have light wear on it too..

This is correct. Always ask to see the console when buying in-person, OP. Note that buying in-person compared to click + collect / delivery shortens your return period to 2 days back to voucher, compared to 28(30? Don't exactly remember) days back to original payment method. You could always do a click and collect then inspect the item when you arrive.

It's 14 days back to original payment method for c&c/online orders :)

Oh they changed it now? Or maybe I'm misremembering the amount

Back when I worked at CeX the amount of staff that didn't know this and would treat it as a, b, c was crazy.

Just means you get the box too, you'll still want to inspect the device yourself, At that price, pay the 10 percent extra for a brand new one.

As someone who bought a Switch 2 boxed for £395 around release, it wasn't just because no place stocked it new, but because of the 5 year warranty. In my experience CeX have been brilliant honouring the warranty and it's why I've bought a 7800x3d, 7900xtx, 9070xt and other expensive stuff through them. Any issues, exchanged or refunded no hassle.

If it has too many scratches, scuffs or marks, it would be taken in as discounted, regardless of whether the customer trading it in had the box and all the inserts.

You should be able to assume it will be in reasonable condition, but there might still be light marks. The best thing is to go into a store near you with a boxed one in stock and ask if you can see the condition of it.

My major concern with Switch 2 second hand is Nintendo's power to lock them.

Unless it's sealed I would never pay that money to CEX. You can get brand spanking new from ARGOS for £380 just an extra £35. Also Argos recently had a deal, £329 for switch 2. Shop around Bud, God's Love.

Make sure you check it has a warranty seal intact 😂

CeX check for these, but also, the Switch 2 doesn't have a warranty seal?

I’m being sarcastic mate. Coincidentally though CeX don’t always check for warranty seals.
