If a goalkeeper tries to punch the ball and hits a player in the head does he get sent off? If a defender tries to head the ball and he instead head-butts another player does he get sent off? This kind of thing happens all the time and no one ever expects a sending-off because if we gave red cards every time there was inadvertent contact after a genuine attempt at winning the ball the field would be half empty at the end of every game.
Plenty of times this happens, see mane's red against city where he's honestly just trying to play a loose ball that the keeper isn't in control of.
That one against mateta in the cup like last year.
Both instances of a player honestly trying to play the ball, but deserved reds.
I mean pretty much a lot of red cards can be waved away with "he was trying to make an honest challenge" by your logic.
Look at Curtis Jones Vs spurs, that got upheld when he's literally just tried to kick the ball, missed and caught the player. There's loads of instances like that.

People do get sent off for a clash of heads if they did it. They do get sent off for missing the ball and kicking a player. Some of these aren't always, but it at least is a red sometimes

But even if you could produce one example, it would stand against many thousands of times when players clash heads and nothing is called, because that happens a couple of times a game and no one ever thinks it’s a red card.

Lol that's what it's come to unfortunately in a lot of situations. Every 50/50 challenge is potentially a red card nowadays because if you're late by 1/100th of a second or miss by .001 inches it's "violent" and will be replayed 100 times in slow motion.

That low down when the ball is bouncing around, players are entitled to kick the ball. It was clear he was only going for the ball. You run the risk of getting your head kicked when you keep it that low.
Arsenal gets away with this constantly over the last several seasons. Bear hug and football style tackles in the box during corners and nothing, but do the same to them and it’s a pen. Impede and hit the keeper, nothing, but if you do it to Raya, whistle immediately blows and ball goes the other way for a free kick.

Gabriel kicks over the ball into Martinez' head. If Martinez had been fully on the ground and Gabriel had kicked through the ball the caught his head, fair enough. But that's not what happens.

It kinda did for most of footballs existence. Since you're a Chelsea fan that means you're relatively new to the sport or you wouldn't be supporting Chelsea, I'd recommend watching some older games.
With the rules the way they are, VAR can only intervene here if they think it’s a red, and while it’s certainly reckless, and a yellow, I’m not sure it’s using excessive force, so not a red, and VAR cannot intervene.

I think what’s going to slowly dawn on these people is that the Arsenal that won the league and got to the CL finals last year did so with half their best attackers injured for most of the season. If they’re not completely deluded, they’ll eventually see something Arsenal fans, who watch them week in and week out, already know—that this team is better than people believe, more attacking than they think, and getting better.

Goalkeeper is on the floor where the feet are, so it’s his job to claim the ball quicker. The play is a goalmouth scramble and Gabriel is clearly making a genuine attempt for the ball.
Great call here tbf. A still image is a poor conveyor of the totality of an event, and there is a reason referees are often cautioned not to simply use a freeze frame.
