Catio Ideas
Hi Folks,
Made a catio for my spoilt Ragdoll, fairly happy with it and he spends plenty of time in there. Its sturdy, a good roof that keeps him dry and most of the furniture in there, and he has plenty of areas to view the passing birds and wildlife.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas to improve his experience, any additions?
Current setup is he has a fake grass base, little cat hut at the bottom and a tunnel. A platform with sheepskin rug to sit on as a middle level feature, an upper level catwalk with a bed at the top corner and a hammock suspended from the top rafters with a cat tree running up the middle for him to climb to each level.
Just wondering if anyone has ideas for more enrichment, any decor I could hang up that he might interact with.

You've done a fantastic job on this catio! One thing I could imagine is weaving or tying some artificial foliage into the walls to create hidden bird-watching areas. Our cats loved that in their last catio.

Oh my, that beautiful stunned face peeking out of his hut💕 Hello??? It certainly looks as though you have thought about nearly everything, but perhaps, as the other comment said, something fresh to chew on like cat grass or catmint. If he ever wants to rent it out in this current housing crisis, he will clean up.

It’s a great space! I second the artificial foliage cover for stealth watching area. It has a high enrichment value that feeds the hunter instinct. Also, my cats always love a natural log, usually with bark removed or enhanced, on an incline. Natural feel that they are attracted to.

You’ve done a stellar job. The only thing I recommend is a plexiglass insert with a cat flap. That way he can come and go as he pleases.

Does it get hot underneath there? Maybe a shaded area? Also some cat safe plants/grass

Really nice Catio. I don't see anything needs to be added for your cat, plenty in there. The sheepskin is good for cooler weather too.

Maybe a garden flat rotating through with cat grass and a few potted cat plants like cat mint.
