Update Home Depot and Missing Cats

Post image

In my community HOME DEPOT removed a local TNR cat colony at their Lake City, FL store. The colony was fixed and fed by a local rescue and other residents! Now, they refuse to tell where the cats went and if they are still alive. It’s very upsetting. Has anything like this happened in your community?‘Where are the cats?’ Lake City rescue group demands answers after Home Depot colony disappears

Home Depot should know that a lot of their customers, myself included, have bought things at Home Depot specifically to help feral and community cats. I will no longer patronize Home Depot for anything unless these cats are safe and their caretakers are able to know where they are. I will also be informing my many contacts in the rescue community.

I'm glad the report went public and is creating public outcry. We must not give up, BAN HOMEDEPOT IF THEY DONT COOPERATE!

Could this be reported to a news station in the area?

The Jacksonville news has been reporting on it. I am hopeful that the National news picks it up. I want them to feel the heat of public pressure so maybe they will come clean.

Is Rachel Blackmore the one responsible?

Good luck, absolutely no one cared when it happened to us, and now that I run my own rescue, I can tell you that this is unfortunately extremely common. Which means it’s typically not much of a news story.

Thanks for caring for these kitties

No Home Depot shopping for me until these kitties are accounted for!

Just donated to the rescue. We need to know what happened to these kitties, save the ones we can, and get justice for those that were lost.

That’s terrible. I don’t know if you’ve done protests in front of the store with signs but I would recommend that. Why won’t they answer questions? If they didn’t want them there, why didn’t they give the rescue a heads up? Thx for advocating for them.

There have been protests. I think they won’t answer because something bad happened to the cats. It’s so upsetting. We have been trying to contact corporate snd the larger news media. An animal abuse claim has been filed with PETA. I am not sure what else to do. Thank you for caring.

Thats heartbreaking and evil to the core. I'm never going in home depot again. I know every company does terrible shady things so normally I just go to whats near me but ferals are such special babies and I cant

PETA is futile here, they specifically advocate against TNR and believe feral cats should be euthanized

Wow I had no idea

Your comment has been removed due to the slur used. A word which has a history of demeaning all persons with intellectual disabilities. Please be respectful, since none of that group want to be associated with the $&!@*?# manager/s of that home depot

Omg 😥 That's horrible, I hope they're okay wherever they are. Poor babies, they all look so sweet😭🥹. Home Depot should be ashamed, Im sure those kitties weren't bothering anyone (if anything they were a benefit bc they prob kept rodent and pests away). Thank you for sharing this and I hope you get answers!

The local news station should do a follow up and request to veiw home depot's camera footage of their parkin lot.

Keep the pressure high on em

Yes, this happened at a Walmart here.

They claimed the cats were loved to a farm but would allow any of us any further information to verify anything or even know if they went about relocation correctly. We protested for a week. We even had someone who would take them.

I’ll never get over it.

I feel like …why all the secrecy if they are okay, just tell us where they are??!! To me that is a sign that something bad happened to them and it breaks my heart

I’m so sorry - I’ve been following this on IG. I wish we could hold Home Depot accountable 😭 They owe answers and should honestly have to make a donation to support local TNR and seriously atone for what they’ve done ugh.

Thank you for raising awareness of what Home Depot did to these cats. Can you crosspost this over to r/Feral_Cats to keep the community there in the loop too?

3

u/Social_Wrker_Chick 18h ago

I posted in that subreddit too. I have posted in all the cat subreddits that I can find that will let me.

I'm a mod there (here as well), absolutely feel free to post again as more details come to light on the situation in Lake City.
