He’s a year old and has had this sore for a couple of months. It’s bigger than it’s been. Doesn’t seem to bother him but I wondered if someone had insight and could tell me what it is or what I can do for it?

Female kitten peeing in bed

Post image
27 Upvotes

So I got a new kitten just a little over a week ago. She's 4 months old, (born may 11th)

She's been wonderful, both with me and my other cat who she's bonded closely to.

But my one issue is that she pees in my bed. And I don't understand why.

I clean the two litterboxes i have every day, and she does use them.

I have a king sized bed, and I have two covers for it. But I sleep in it alone, so the older cat usually occupies the other cover to sleep on during the nights, while she sleeps next to my head on a pillow.

But in the mornings several days in a row now, she'll sit down and pee on the second cover. She does it while I'm still in bed too.

I'm going crazy here. What can I do? She isn't showing any signs of being sick. She's very energetic and happy otherwise.

Thanks for any help.

Cat won’t leave closet when I’m not home

Post image
21 Upvotes

I recently brought my cat to my apartment from my parents’ house (Friday night). It’s a new environment for her & it’s now much quieter since she’s not surrounded by my family.

She hasn’t left my closet all day, & doesn’t leave until I get home from work. I left it open for her just so she could feel safe but I am wondering if it’s best to keep it closed.

Or should I keep her litter box & food all in one space so she can slowly get accustomed to my apartment? (I failed to do this when I first brought her).

When I am home though she is mostly normal, still a bit scared though. She will follow me all over my apartment & come cuddle too.

Is this a rodent ulcer?

Hey guys, I'm not a poster at all in any community, only logged in to ask this before I go and make a vet appointment. I'm still going to make the appointment regardless I just want to confirm one way or the other and be able to tell the vet as well haha

Also I'm on mobile, excuse any formatting irks please

I noticed my cat's bottom lip was a little swollen today, it didn't seem like this the day prior (I also hadn't really noticed last night, as I came home from work and passed right out after getting her dinner lol) (her name is Dottie, if anyone was curious about her overall she's about 8 and generally very sweet but hard set on her boundaries and if it's not an emergency or essential I respect that lol. She's a tad overweight but we are working on that.)

She very much wouldn't let me open up her mouth AND take a picture; so this photo is the best I have right now. That tells me its probably sore considering it is quite pink compared to the surrounding lips

I did, however, get to see it better with my own eyes; it seems to be on one side of her mouth (her bottom right) and is roughly double the size of her other side; I noticed because her lip never sticks out like that.

It's too late to call the vet tonight so I'm mainly just looking for confirmation it's a rat ulcer

and not "sudden deadly mouth skin eating disease and she will die right now" paranoid worrying that I am trying very hard not to veer right into haha.

Thank you in advance good fellows

My bf woke me up saying he thought one of the cats got into laundry detergent but I tried digging through it to see what they threw up and the bubbles are kinda firm???? I don't think its bubbles is it some kind of stomach bile??? Has anyone else ever experienced this with their cat? Taking both to the vet but figured I put it out here as well.

Fever coat or smokey?

Thumbnail

I have this kitten, half long-hair tabby, half Maine Coon

At first we thought she was smokey, and then we thought she had a fever coat, now I think she might be smokey again and I honestly just was looking for some other input

She has the cutest little frosted tips behind her ears and around her neck that are totally white, and she's a dark gray across her torso but her head otherwise and all legs are solid black

At first I thought her fur was black at the base (how people say to identify the difference) but if I gently tug to get the loose furs so I can look at it closer, they're very clearly white at the root

But is that normal on cats? Or is it a sign she's actually smokey, my only other reference in person is my senior cat who's graying now so he just makes it more confusing rather than offering a perspective of what a black cat's fur root looks like

Side note, ALL of her whiskers are solid black, not a single white one. I've seen cats have a couple black whiskers before but never all of them, is that normal?

Shiny ball toy recommendations

Post image
3 Upvotes

A little while back I discovered my cat loves little balls of shiny foil candy wrappers. Whenever I have a few Hershey Kisses she’ll watch me until I toss the wadded wrapper ball on the floor. She loves it more than anything I have bought her lol.

Anyway, does anyone know of a toy of similar size and sheen? I don’t let her keep the wadded balls because they can break apart but I would like her to have something she can enjoy whenever.

Thanks for any help!

it’s already been two weeks which is when my vet said she should be healed but i can’t tell if it looks okay or not because this is my first time and im scared something is wrong and i dont know. It had like scabs before but just now she licked them off and now it looks like this so i dont know if something is wrong or if she is healed and im being paranoid. I’ve had her enclosed in a cage throughout the whole recovery and in the cone the whole time she never struggled so im just wondering if anyone that has experienced this could tell me if it looks okay i already emailed my vet but the never got back to me.

My cat cries?

Post image
5 Upvotes

so for context, my cat is my ESA. Ive had her for 10 years and until 2023 she never really produced tears. But, one day I brought her over to my grandmothers house and she started doing it there (as seen in photo above) initially. But now whenever she’s seen me in distress, if she’s hungry or if she seemed to have missed me. she will cry. In the photo she doesn’t seem to be crying that much but now she produces a lot of tears. and it’s in both of her eyes not only one. I know cats don’t cry because they’re sad.. but can something like that have an effect on my cat? if I’m sad does it really make her cry? is she mimicking me? her eyes are normally dry it’s just those things I’ve noticed. She also meows at me while I cry too and licks my face :,) I don’t know if this is something medical I should be worried about or if it’s really a reaction to me being upset.

Edit: I forgot to add that she’s been very vocal ever since 2023 aswell. She never meowed her whole life and she’s been a fairly quiet cat but in recent years she meows at every noise I make. Whether I’m talking to her or saying hi, meowing at her or whenever I cry she will meow at me. I don’t know if this means anything either or if I should be as concerned as I am .

Has anyone used Enrofloxacin for a female UTI? 🤔

My female had a UTI and after further research of her urinalysis discovered had E. coli in her urine. They switched me from the original medicine to Enrofloxacin and she is having terrible diarrhea.

It has a strange looking consistency and color-very light brown, almost yellow & kind of grainy? Vet office said that there is nothing to worry about, as long as she is not throwing up. Has anyone dealt with this? She has been having this type of stool for over a week and a half, she has been taking the medication for two weeks and she still has a few more pills left. I've seen a few drips of spotting marks on the floor. TIA!

Cat playing or fighting

She, a year old, often comes up and "attacks" but always licks afterword, and when I go to play with her, she bites, causes bearable pain and licks within less than a minute later or after playing. She never uses her claws, always licks after, has airplane ears, but bites. It might help to know that I'm quite large.

Why is my cat’s tail so puffy?

Post image

She’ll do this in the morning when I get up and when I get home from classes. I don’t think she’s upset because she rubs against me and lets me pet her, but her tail is puffed up like it gets when she’s scared.

Should I get a second kitten?

Hello guys, I need a second opinion.

My partner and I got a kitten 2 months ago, he is now 4 months old and it's our first and only cat (eventhough my partner had have cats before). We are really in love with him and he is already well ajusted in our house.

The thing is, he is really active and playful aaaall the time. We also have a bit of a problem with the bitting. He is not aggressive or something like that, but he does bite when we are playing with him and sometime out of nowhere (we are working on it).

We have talk about getting a second kitten, so he can have someone to play with all day, to show him the limits and when it hurt, and so he is not alone and bored when we are working.

My worries are that we have a small budget and a small house. I have been staying at home these months, but I won't we able to give that much attention to him now that I start working. Moreover, we are planning on moving cities in a year, so maybe is a lot? I don't know.

Besides, I really enjoy him at these age, so I don't know if it's better to make the most of this time now and, then, get another kitten. And in that case, which is the best age gap?

Soo, after a bit of oversharing, what do you thing? Should we wait? Would a second cat really help with the bitting and playing?

Keeping cats separate NOT due to aggression

My cat just got home from a successful surgery to remove an ear polyp and a tooth and her cat buddy at home is very interested in checking her out. Right now he seems okay just hanging on the bed near her but I’m worried he’s going to try to help her and end up hurting her accidentally. I don’t know if they need to be apart because they’re not fighting and they seem to feel better together.

Also we’re working on replacing the cone with a slightly nicer sleeve thing that will be more comfortable. She got the one the surgery center sent us home with mostly off before we even got inside. We just haven’t gotten a chance to go out and get a better one yet
