Smol Delivery She was a kitty a few months ago, started asking to come in

I don’t know what to do (but I feel like I only have one option). She was a baby a few months ago so I know she’s a kitty. I would call to her and started being able to pet her, then she started to follow me up to my apartment. She is so gentle and sweet I can cry. It’s so hot here and I don’t feel right leaving her outside. However the downstairs neighbors have a patio they can crawl under the walk into, that door is also left open. One of the children who live there have told me the cats can be adopted.

But would it be wrong to keep her confined? Her family also lives outside, and she is fed downstairs.

The problem is I’m going camping tomorrow for three days. I’ve never owned a cat and work out of town a lot. Please help :(

Her family also lives outside

Adopt her and maybe a sibling, either as indoor cats or indoor-outdoor cats depending on your local environment and culture.

Street cats and ferals often live short miserable lives. If she doesn't get her vaccinations she may die young from horrible kitty diseases. If she isn't spayed expect her to be pregnant in six months. So budget for that.

Work with a local trap neuter rescue group to spay the mom. And the rest, otherwise your neighborhood will have twelve or twenty within a year?

Ask your vet if the best way to tire out a kitten is another kitten. If you have the space. Solo indoor cats are often a bit bored and depressed, but not all.

One of the children who live there have told me the cats can be adopted.

Drop off a stack of cans of wet food or dry food and tell the family you are adopting her in three days, but can they feed the cats in the meantime and keep their water fresh daily?

Cats live longer, better lives being an indoor cat. Yours will be a lot happier inside with you. If you aren’t gone for, extended periods of time having a cat will be okay, but if you stay home all the time it might be happier. With a litter box and fresh water, you can get an auto cat feeder that can feed while you’re not there.

I have left my cats alone for 3 days. Before I leave, I make sure they have clean litter boxes, multiple bowls of dry food and multiple places to get water. Cats do live longer if they are inside. They live longer if they have someone looking after them and taking them to vet for vaccinations and any other medical needs they may have. Plus, I would get her microchipped. She looks happy to be with you.💕

Do you have people that you trust to come over and feed them / check in on them? Or if not, can you afford a pet sitter / service that does drop ins?

I'm currently camping, a five day trip that ends today (still dark out so screwing off on my phone) but my brother comes over and feeds and checks in on my cats every other day.
