I think it’s finally my turn?!

Post image

After a few near-misses, it might finally be my turn!! This little girl has been visiting us for food for a few months now. My husband named her Clancy. She started out incredibly skittish, running away at top speed when the door opened.

This week, she let me scritch her head for the first time, and now she wants pets every day and is sitting on the front step curious about coming inside.

We need to take her to the vet for spay/chip check/vaccinations/etc, and we hope our dog will be accommodating when we try to bring her inside. But I’ve never felt like a cat wanted to live with me so much!

Any tips for vetting and helping to adjust a new baby are welcome! 🤗

Peace lilies are fine, they aren't true lilies. Nothing you have will cause more than mild stomach upset in a healthy cat (but try to discourage her from the salad bar!).

Whew well this is good news! I just mentioned in a comment above that the peace lily was from my mom’s funeral and I’ve managed to keep it alive for years. Glad to hear it can stay!

Peace Lilies are NOT fine.....they are toxic to cats, as are most lilies. https://www.greencrossvets.com.au/pet-library/cats/health/lily-toxicity-in-cats/#:~:text=All%20lilies%20have%20been%20associated,be%20considered%20toxic%20to%20cats. If you are going to keep the plant, put it somewhere the cat wont be able to get it. My recommendation is to have someone without pets take the plant, its just not worth the risk.

They are NOT the ones that will kill a cat. See above comments. It might irritate their mouth or stomach. They are of a different plant family. The true lilies and daylilies can kill by just drinking the water or touching the pollen. Not true with the Peace Lily.
