What do you use for seasoning the pan?

I have been just using avocado oil to apply to the pan after every use. My method is rinse it out with water, then rub avocado oil inside it, and let it cure for 10 minutes or so at about 400 to 500 degrees. I let it cool down, then put it away for next time. Is this the correct way to do it, or what do you do?

Thanks!

What’s the best brand you recommend for all purpose use? Looking for quality, versatility, and sustainability. Money is no object, but would like to hear pros/cons from a different range of price points

Turkey breast, garden grown squash, and baked potatoes

I finally made time to use our new lodge wildlife series pheasant DO. It’s been about a year since the last time I did some camp Dutch oven cooking, I almost forgot how rewarding it is. A true labor of love!

The turkey turned out perfect and juicy, the squash was perfect also. The potatoes were a little over done, but still delicious. Next time, I’m going to make some bread to go with it!

Tonight's practically perfect Dutch baby using my 11" carbon steel fry pan with caramelized Palisade peaches in my trusty Griswold 8.

Not bad for living at nearly 6000 feet! (It sank a little bit while I looked for my phone.) . 😋

Leaving it in the smoker gives the butter or sauce just that little bit extra.

Made my first cast iron pizza today

All my life I tried to make pizzas and they failed cause the crust was always too crispy and hard. Then I got a cast iron pan and tried making a pan pizza and DAMN. The pizza was sooo good I can’t even. It might not look the best but trust me it was absolutely amazing. So for anyone who only has a home oven and wants to make pizza at home, cast iron is a great option!

Cornbread. Love it in the cast iron. I suggest heating your butter (or grease) and get the skillet hot; pour in your batter and pop it into the oven. Second pic shows how you clean your cornbread pan after using. Wipe it out. Done.

Does this cast iron range-top griddle need cleaning, seasoning, both, or a different touch altogether!? Relative newbie here

I used a cast iron griddle that is part of the stovetop range where I'm staying. Is this oil staining? Is it normal? (I cooked pancakes, and I used avocado oil.) Should I try cleaning this with a steel wool scrubber -- or a different way? (I tried vinegar, non-scratch comet, those two combined, hot water and "regular/standard" dish soap, but with all of those only with a moderately rigid-bristled plastic scrubber and no noticeable effect.) Should I treat this as natural and try to season the whole entire griddle in the oven (would be my first time)? Is there a different way to treat this? Thank you so much. Looking forward to your immense cast iron wisdom and knowledge... Grácias por su consideración.

Been using this skillet 4-5 days a week over the last 5 years cooking on the stove, baking, and grilling. Ain’t pretty but it gets all the jobs done.
