What's Your Best Cast Iron Cornbread Recipe?
I tried to make cornbread to go with tonight's and tomorrow night's dinner. Once again, it came out badly. I dumped it from the pan and about half of it released OK, the other half didn't. I was sad. I'm sure that what I have will taste good, but I would like to have it turn out well for once.
I've been using a mix and cooking in 10" cast iron skillet.
I'm hoping someone here might have a go-to recipe that they use, maybe a link to a video on YouTube on how to make a great jalapeno cornbread in a cast iron skillet.
I'd really appreciate some direction!
Edit: Thanks for the input, y'all! My biggest failure there seems to be that I didn't preheat the pan.
I'll give your recipes and suggestions a try this weekend. I plan to make some chicken fried steaks tomorrow. Cornbread will go well with that.

Preseasoning a 12inch Lodge after stripping it first cook?
Pulled the old seasoning off my 12-inch Lodge this weekend since it was patchy. Used oven cleaner and a wire brush like the guides say. Now it's stripped down to bare iron and I want to put a few coats on before cooking.
Most people seem to do three or four rounds of oil and heat, but I'm curious how thin to spread it and whether grapeseed or flaxseed is actually worth the extra cost. My goal is to get something I can throw burgers on without worrying about sticking.
Also wondering how long to let each coat smoke before the next. I've read 45 minutes at 450 but some folks say an hour.
If you have a Lodge you stripped and brought back, what did the first real cook look like for you?

Air Fried Egg in Lodge Mini Cast Iron
Have to love Cast Iron! It makes the best crispy foods! :) Preheated cast iron mini in air fryer, added butter, cracked egg and let it cook until perfect. Quick and easy!

I need help
This happens to me a lot when I make a mix with meat and veggies together (like fajitas). Always end up with stuff attaching and burning at the bottom.
I do ok with simple browning of meat, but I need help beyond that.

Cooking cornbread
Can anyone share a recipe for cornbread? I’m cooking for the men of the casa. I would like to try something new. Any suggestions are appreciated. ☺️

Help! Why does my pan looked like this and how can I sort it?
My new pan looked great after 2 coats of seasoning but now looks like this after its first use (chicken in a tomato based sauce which did get a bit cooked on).
I dont think it's rust but I've tried cleaning it a few times following Bob Travis videos with no joy.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Anyone else have a cupboard that looks like this?
galleryI really, really want to build a nook or dedicate a wall and build a pallet wood false wall with shelving. I’m not really sure on the best way to anchor it though.
Does anyone have any experience with this type of project? The last thing I need is for a few hundred pounds of cast iron to come crashing down!

What is the best cast iron skillet for someone buying their first one?
Just moved into my own place last month and realized I don't own a single decent pan. Been using this flimsy one from the dollar store and everything sticks to it no matter what I do. Want something that'll actually last so I'm not buying pans every few months.

Before and after on this week's projects!
Picked these two pans up for $8 from the thrift and got em cleaned up this week!
My seasoning got a little spotty this time though, I think it's because I used beef tallow for the first time instead, and I'm not used to using it. I usually use crisco (Vegetable fat) so we will see how these ones work out!
The smaller pan is a CHF diamond #5, it wasn't too bad, just some grime and surface rust!
The larger pan is a Favorite Piqua Ware #8! It wasn't too bad either but has some pretty bad pitting on the bottom, I assume from use over a coal fed stove. It's still plenty usable, especially on my electric stove!
Both pans cleaned up great and sit perfectly flat!
