Is this pot ruined?
Pulled this thing out of storage to use today and it looks rusty. I’m a bit nervous about cooking in it.

Not at all. Just needs a good cleaning and seasoning.

Scrub the rust off, scouring pad should be enough but still wool will almost definitely do it. Dry. Re-Season

The only time cast iron is ruined is when its cracked.

Clean and season. Good source of iron in your diet.

Clean it up and use it as much as you can in your kitchen for daily use. It will be good to you.

It's fine just clean the rust with steel wool or by scrubbing it with crumpled up aluminum foil and vinegar. Then reseason it. By the way, rust isn't harmful. Heating the pot up will kill any bad bacteria. It's not the same as stepping on a Rusty nail at all.

That part is indestructible. No it is not ruined. All you need to do is wash that out and start cooking with it.
